| Celadon so far Well, I guess I'll post here on Celadon for now. Hubby left on his first run on Sunday morning Feb 3. As of tonight, Saturday Feb 9, he will have 2906 dispatched miles on three loads. Guess that's pretty good for his first week. Now granted that's not the actual mileage he drove, because even practical miles are a percentage off of actual driving miles. I don't know what they base practical miles on, I think it's PC Miler, but I don't really know. I do know it's better than HHG miles. But anyway, back to Celadon. He put in on Thursday for his home time next weekend, which means he will have been out two weeks. And his DM came back with approval for it within the hour. So far so good. He had been talking with drivers for Celadon before he started to see what they had to say, and it was all good. None of them even said anything about "give them my name" so they could get a recruiting bonus. Just told him what they thought of the company. So hubby should be home Friday night sometime. I know he won't have as good a mileage next week as he'll be coming home Friday for the weekend, but he should at least be able to average 2000 miles for the week. He hasn't had to sit waiting for a load yet. His DM has one already lined up as soon as he's done unloading the previous one. I can only hope she's always that proficient. I realize there will be times when he'll have to sit because there just isn't anything available, but from what I understand, a good DM will be planning ahead for the driver unloading and already be working on lining up a new load. At any rate, most of the drivers he's talked to that have been with the company for awhile say he's got one of their best DM's. He got real lucky getting assigned to her. So we'll see how things go as time progresses.

| He's been driving for almost ten years. He went to a driving school in 1998 then went to a local company hauling coal in a 40 foot frameless dump. He was with them for nine years, till they decided to close the terminal 5 miles from our home. He switched to another company, also local, and also home every night. Stuck with them for almost a year, didn't pan out, pay sucked, couldn't make it any more on little pay, so we talked about it and he took an OTR job.

| Nice update t_wilson. Its always good to hear these types of updates. Of course, I never really heard much bad about celadon. I almost want to apply with them even though I would have to do teams! They seem like a great company to work for and they have a terminal close to me! |

| Second week out Well, hubby is on his second week with Celadon. I remember seeing on another post about how their mechanics are slower than slow about working on trucks. And I have to say, Yep, they are. He was dispatched on a load that gave him around 636 miles on Monday. He had a load assignment Monday morning, it got cancelled, then given another, it got cancelled, then given another which would have put him east coast in Jersey on Thursday and he's supposed to be home Friday by noon. So he declined that one. Duh. So then he was given this run finally on late Monday afternoon which brought him up to the Indy terminal this morning. When he started out this morning, he had all the parts on his truck. When he got to Indy, one of the quarter fenders on the drives was missing. Now any time a truck comes through the terminal it goes through an inspection, for load or what ever, I don't know. But any way, he finds when he gets here that the fender is missing. He pulled in to the Indy shop at 8 this morning. It is 4 PM now and they said they'll get around to it when they feel like it. His DM had a short haul for him to do and then was sending him home Friday. Needless to say I don't think that's going to work out. So now I wonder, will he get home Friday? If all he has is 636 miles for the week, I'm a little peeved at that. That's going to be like a 250 dollar paycheck next week. Before taxes. Bull. I know it only takes like 15 or 20 minutes to bolt on a new quarter fender. Hell even I can do it and I'm totally not mechanically inclined. Even if the bolt holes needed some grinding on the frame rail to smooth it out from rust or what ever, that doesn't take but a minute. He should have been out of there and gone by 9:30 this morning. 10 at the latest. But the shop is taking it's sweet time about fixing it. I told him to go talk to his DM and see if she can do anything about it. But he won't. He'll just sit there and wait. So I guess this is the negative side of Celadon. The shop is slow and will do it when they feel good and ready. Of course their paychecks aren't dependent on running loads, so to them it doesn't matter.

| you know how many trucks those guys have to work on? Go to the dealer once and see how long you'll wait. and they have nowhere the umber of trucks. I'm a truck driver but I'm also a mechanic |
