Here's my experience with celadon trucking service.
I was hired with them in Sept of 2008, at 1st i thought they were great got good miles for the first few weeks. Then the miles dropped, and i mean dropped.
The week out of orientation ran 2439 miles netted 514.38
that was including deductions of 200 advances and pet policy so thought was good.
next 1230 miles netted 293.47pet policy
553miles 79.01 pet policy no advances
3565miles 683.66 pet policy no other deduction
2837 miles pet policy, payment for having stoops freightliner install inverter(co. rules)
354 miles 70.26 no pet policy
1216miles 297.32 no deduction
this one included 1st 30,000 mile bonus 1367 miles + bonus= 1038.34no dect
586 miles 166.67no dect
809 miles 322.25 no deduction
479 miles 106.41 no deduction
1552 miles 267.72 no deduction
1329 miles 361.64 no deduction
so you can make up your own minds a lot of time they send you on a good run after wards leave you sitting anywhere form 24hrs to34 hrs to 52 hrs
only make money when running not doing runs then sitting.
like i said hers what info can show you , not bad mouthing any truck company just showing what it was like, and that's not counting the 5 times truck was in shop for problem they couldn't figure out

Hey soulfire I started in March of '08 and was gone by December of '08. my first three months were quite good and I was very happy. Hit my first 30,000 almost exactly on the 90 day mark. Hit my 60,000 within the next three month period. Things were ok but it was starting to slow a little. I had no accidents , tickets , lates never turned a load down, and went where they sent me. Didn't argue with dispatch either, aside from when I got shot at in Philly and the #### on weekend dispatch talked to me like I was an idiot. Whatever.
By the time I left in December my miles were non-existant my family was on the verge of being evicted and I was not being paid because of the deadheading they had me doing. In one week I deadheaded over 1000 miles. I was returning walmart blitz load trailers. No check the week before christmas. Stuck in Houston. I quit, left their trailer and truck in Waxahatchie and got a ride from a friend back to wisconsin. Oh and by the way I still hadn't hit my 90,000. I hit my 60 at the end of August beginning of Sept.
You do the math. I got shafted, along with a lot of other drivers. I liked working for Celadon and tried going up the food chain to find out why I was getting shafted so badly, I knew many other drivers still doing well, but there were more doing worse than I was. It really was a shame because there for a while I thought I had found a decent company that I could run for.

sounds like what i went thru was on the verge of evection also thought when i first went there would be last move had to make , unfortunately that wasnt the case.

Yeah it stunk that's for sure. I had hoped that I had found a good company.
When i started there was not the bad vibe around the terminals either. that started up last summer. In general when I started most of the drivers I met were quite happy as a whole, but it sure did change. Too bad too.

At the moment, not sure many drivers with Celadon or anyother company are getting 3000 miles a week, you better figure 1800-2000 min,, and 2500 high side for right now.. its like blackjack , just depends on how the cards are stacked and where your sitting in the line to get the next card! Hang tough! It should only get better in the next 9 months....

Unfortunately, wasn't even getting enough miles to keep household bills up to date, so when it gets that bad you have to cut the rope and hope for the best . If I got 1800 to 2000 things would be squeaky tight but could have hung on but couldnt even get enough to juggle things until things got better.

You would think that these companies would have some sense of what's happening and let the drivers low on the food chain know that they may be losing miles, but it's probably just the freight...and no company wants to shave off a lot of drivers then all of a sudden freight picks up and they have no one to haul it.
Well, that's my guess. It still sux to the max.

Canada ain't so bad once you get in and out on the paperwork. It just makes a little more work and you get $20 for doing it. Or you can go Canadian regional and get 7 cents more a mile.
