I am a (for the Marines) "FORMER" 82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper, and I would NOT put up with what Nik described,-its not about "being able to take it"it has to do with being treated like a 3rd class citizen, and it just makes NO SENSE to me...Until I get my own rig,-a small company driver, till I "BURN" a candle in the tractor...:biggrin_25513:

I hear ya Bumpy........it was good there at first but by the end of summer 2008 the writing sure was on the wall....Steve Russel the owner was buying out whoever he could.....we started thinking he was trying to become like Swift or JB Hunt......there were drivers quitting left and right......I stuck it out as long as I could but when they had me chasing around after empty trailers for a week and then I ended up OWING THEM MONEY for the week I said no way no more........

The problem really boils down to this.......they manufactured a "driver shortage". Steve Russel owner of Celadon was one of the heads of the ATA for a while.......they and I mean the owners of the big companies created this shortage so that there would be a surplus of drivers so they could get away with paying drivers less.

But what they got instead of QUALITY was quantity.....and that is not always a good thing. So in order to keep fresh meat in their trucks they lure them in with "sign on Bonus" promises but then put restrictions as to how you collect it. It was a shell game, it still is.:biggrin_25510:
