Starting Second Week, with driving for Celadon,, it has been what was expected.. At the moment, it looks like about 1800-2000 miles/ wk.. now its really to early to make that determination as I'm just going into my second week and its early yet to see what averages,, pends on where you are at the time.., one of my classmates, which operates out of Indy, would have over 3500, but the fuel pump died, and down time cost him a long haul of about 1000 miles, I've been running out of the mid west and my terminal is LR.. As we all know its is slow.. but everyone is... oh, sure there may be a few drivers system wide, in and out of the Celadon realm that may be more miles , but thats an exception not the rule.. In about 6 months the proof will be on the pudding, and the economy will also have something major to do with it as well..
I have to say, I've had nothing but professional experience on the mgm side and reflects respect, mutual..what you put in is what you get back Over all I till rate my experience 8+to 9-.. there is alway room for improvement.. But the wheels are pretty well grease here at Celadon, Glad to be here.. there is still a future...

Take care and will check back in another week Fueldog over and out

Fueldog - really appreciate your updates. I'll be starting shortly, and hope just some of what I've heard is true for me. What really got my ears from your last message was the word "respect". Slow is slow and means less miles. It doesn't have to mean fighting your 14 and getting less than 100 miles!

Watch out for those little things out there with four wheels. Their objective is to get you to kill them and they'll keep trying and trying. Take care, be safe, and have fun out there!

Not sure about all that you heard. As you well know, some people look at a glass half full and call it half empty.. Its perspective.. I give mine as I experience it.. Look forward to you doing the same... Best to you ya.. You will be busy at Orientation, keep you ears and eyes open in class and take notes... they will be handy the first moment you walk out the door to your assigned truck, and you load your stuff in and Qualcomm goes off, "you have an assignment", Macro, back after you answer to it,, then Comm goes off again, "You Have been Dispatched" you'll be all hands on that Comm, and you mind will be flashing back to class, "what was it they told us to do,, I want to get it right.. " they are very understanding on your first trip out to help you along, once your assigned in class your DM, get on the horn and call em,, they will help you get'er roll'n.. They all have been a great bunch there, you'll see how busy they are helping getting you on the road.. Remember,, you on the road not only means a paycheck for you ,, but them also,, Celadon has not lost site, that its the Drivers stupid, that makes the company what it is,as that is what the first thing the customer see, You and the Truck,. Oh, yeah somedays I'm sure you may question all this, it is what it is...Team Work.. Look forward to hearing back from you.. I'm sure many others as well.. Ric

You are ready to totally reverse your decision to drive for a co. based on a post that, if you had any real driving experience, you would have used common sence and known what was being talked about. Alot of company trucks shut off after a preset time to cut down on idle time at fuel islands, recievers and such. Like the other driver stated, all you have to do is interupt the system, push in the clutch and reset, and you have the ability to idle all you want.
Granted he probably didn't know and most assuradly wasn't told but for you to jump in with an answer with that attitude is why our industry is in the predicument it is in. Think before opening your mouth.
Remember, "It is better for someone to think you are and idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

Well I am on the third day and yes, it was a little boring yesterday. They asked for some volunteers yesterday to drive to little rock and to carolina. They wanted them to drive a van to take some other drivers to get their trucks. That brings me to wonder why the first day they asked everyone to fill out a list of how much luggage they had brought with them...(maybe to see if they could put them in a van)? I don't know but they wouldn't say how much they were paying the van drivers when we asked. I didn't volunteer and no one knows who will be going on this road trip. Hopefully it won't be me. I just made one on the bus up here. So the van drivers take their passengers and then come back to Indy to get their trucks.

Orientation last day Hoorah! Well I don't know when I'll post again but I will be back.
