You must be one of the recruiters. Because there is this person there who is supposed to be an expert at getting people across the US and Canadian border. He was always bragging that he was. I think he probably is another one of the govt people that the owner of Celadon was required to hire after one of Celadons many faux pau at the border in order to stay in business. Anyways I once spent 4 days wasting away in Canada because of this guys expertise in getting people across the border.

I did they told me to go to the nearest drop yard or terminal. I opened up their terminal and drop yard section in their hand book. I then told my dispatcher/ dm that is where I was going to take the truck which was according to the company rules that we were told about extensively for three days in orientation to follow to a t.

The dispatcher/ dm told me that that drop yeard may be closed he or she wasn't sure. Well if a highly trained dm/dispatcher isn't sure I'm certainly not going to waste my time in finding out.:biggrin_25511:

Nope, never recruited anyone in the 6+ years that I've been there. I've only worked 1 other place in my 20+ years. And I'm not saying I haven't had my share of problems on the northern border either. Still, I think Celadon is a good fit for someone w/ lots of experience and self-motivation.

I'm not really going to waste my time doing my dac on that company since I got a god job after that. Anyways why would a company want to ruin someones reputation when they were following company procedure in the first place. I guess you've never read their blue book and the section on returning in a truck when your either terminated or quit.

It specifically says if you quit or are terminated you are to turn in your truck to the nearest drop yard or terminal. Now if the terminal or drop yard is no longer viable and the dm isn't aware of that, whose fault is that?

That is why I think your a company employee or possibly that fellow who specializes in getting people across the border who in reality doesn't know his butt from his elbow.

For four days they were tring to get me across the Caadian border into the US. You'd go up and try to talk to him to find out what was going on and he'd walk away from me. I know that he was probably intimidated by my presence, but most incompetent people are.

Actually, you're supposed to turn in the truck where they direct you to. And turn in your ID/fuel card, locks, etc. to your DM or HR Dept. I'm not any recruiter or office worker, just a driver who has been treated fairly by the company. Everyone that I've known that was threatening to quit their DM directed them to call their supervisor to try to talk them out of quitting or had them come in to talk w/ others in the company to convince them to resign, in writing, so they could get a good recommendation or possibly be rehired later. Even folks who have been fired have been told to wait 6 mos. and reapply. I'm not even claiming that they are the best deal around, just one of the ones worth considering.

I was thinking about going to Celadon. Does anyone have some current information about how they are doing. Do they live up to the promises?

NO. I left there in 08 because of alot of BROKEN PROMISES AND CROOKED TALK. A friend of mine has stayed on with them and has had a series of dispatchers 3 years of bad runs and being lied to and is trying to get out now. They start you off real good and then it falls apart. there are a couple of good dispatchers there ( or were) but it is hard to get on the right board. I enjoyed driving for them for 6 months and then within 2 months after that I had no savings and was begging to work. I had zero tickets, zero lates, no accidents, and perfect logs.....what did I do wrong:biggrin_2558:. I got lied to by my dispatcher, and by her boss. Steve Russel talks a good game but from what I understand every load is a high priority load now, they give instructions on how the loads cant be late there cnat be any rescheduling etc..etc.. etc... Maybe they shouldnt have shafted all the good drivers just so they could have a bunch of corporate yes men driving trucks going broke and loving it..In my honest opinion:biggrin_25516:

Seems to me that if a drop yard is no longer open it is not now the nearest yard? The next nearest would then be the drop yard of choice. There is no excuse for abandoning a truck.
