Most of the mechanics in Indianapolis are non-productive. Expect to be laid over for 2 days to get an air filter changed. Better off getting stuff fixed at other terminals like Waxahachie.

I've been here 10 months now, and it is a better-than-most company. They work with you, even when you have one of "THOSE" days. The biggest pain for me lately has been the new 2012 Int'l trucks and that *^%$ MaxxForce engine. To date, it has gone to Int'l dealers 4 times for engine related malfunctions. I just completed a trip that brought me across I-68 thru MD and WV, climbing hills there (loaded with 37k) at a paltry 25 mph! Almost feels like the engine break is coming on and never shutting off! Just re-enrolled for the BCBS and other insurances, they're a good deal here and not that pricey for what you get. But, yes, the maintenance dept here in Indy is slow. I'm having my Qualcomm keyboard replaced, due to me being "butter-fingered" with a padlock yesterday. OOPS! Dropped it and, yes, it hit the viewscreen, shattering it. My bad! Also, it has to go to Int'l for the aforementioned lack of power. God Bless, everyone!

How has your weekly milage been , and do those new trucks have apu's ? Im scheduled to go for oreintation next week but here so much negativity about everyone I look into , including Celadon . I Dont want to go and work for an outlaww company, but also I need to get decent milage consistantly. What kind of idle policy do they have when your sitting , I like to stay cool or warm , you get me !! What can you recamend to me considering going to work for them ?

You talk to people online and they all hate Celedon.
If you talk to actual current drivers, most of them like or don't mind Celedon.

..probably like every other company out there.

Exactly. One mega carrier is just like another. They may have slightly different policies, slightly different pay packages, but they are all the same underneath. And at any mega, you will have drivers with vastly different experiences and opinions. So much depends on the DM, the region, where you live even. I don't find Celadon to be special in any way, good or bad. They are just like Swift, really, except I can keep the truck while on hometime.

Mileage has been consistent, 2500 to 3000 miles each full week out. Mine is a 2012, and the electric APU is great! There's always going to be negatives with any company. Idle? The only time I idle is when the batteries run down enough to need to be recharged. The truck does it all by itself. They are on Elogs, so there is NO outlaw running. What I have is a long-standing dislike of terminals, so I usually won't come in to one unless I absolutely have to. But Celadon's Indy terminal is okay. Greensbsoro, is about the worst. Carlisle, Laredo, they're okay. Haven't been to El Paso yet. The yard in Drums, PA is off the beaten path, so it is quiet. Alot of how you experience any company depends greatly on the DM/dispatcher you have. Some are better than others. MiNe is good. One thing with Celadon is that the Load Planners do alot of the load assigning, not the DM's. Your DM will be your POC (point-of-contact) for all load-realted issues.

Wrong they team you are you do not work for them. You go in their main yard in indy and they normally have fifty to sixty piles of equipment from trucks where drivers walk off. I started to go to work for them once untile I met the nasty mouth little owner. A new york number one.

Here's a warning to all new drivers coming to Celadon. Weekend dispatch is staffed by persons whose personality clashes strongly with everyone else there. They also don't know how to make legal dispatches. Case in point this weekend. Coming back from vacation, my PTA was 0800 Saturday morning. Nothing. I sent a Qualcomm msg to call me when something comes up (It's not allowed to sit and "hang out" waiting for dispatch where I have to park my truck when at home). About 2000 (8 PM) I get a call from someone (nameless) who says I've been assigned a load. I drive 45 minutes from home to the truck to find that I'm expected to drive from southern Florida to just north of Atlanta (500 miles) for FREE (they call it an "empty move") pick up a load there before midnight (500 miles in 4 hours?) and then have it in West Virginia by 1500 (3 PM) the next afternoon, another 460+ miles up the road. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I sent them a load conformation that said basically there was NO WAY I COULD MEET THEIR SCHEDULED TIMES. I even sent a free form msg explaining that I'd been up since 0500 waiting on them and I was tired and sleepy. Their reply, which came around 0400 the following morning, okay we'll change the times but you need to leave asap. Oh, and they never called me back. I'm getting sick and tired of babying these people each and every weekend for the past year. Anyhow, they changed the times and dates twice more, each time being ridiculous in their expectations. They even told me I didn;t care about the customer. Hey, I care. But I'm not running illegal and getting fired for some jerk who only works weekends because he doesn't get along with others well. Be careful. Celadon IS NOT as "cool" as they present themselves to be!

A follow up this morning on this past weekends ruff times. The DM on the Qualcomm wasn't the same one that took my phone call. It seems that the DM on the Qualcomm refuses to take calls from drivers, especially after she does them every which way but right. But, after learning who it was, it figures. My DM says that since she gave me the exact times his fleet is "cared for" by her, simply don't Qualcomm in anything short of the truck burning up! And set my PTA out on her "every other weekend" so that I'm just not available for dispatch until Monday morning when he gets to work. He's cool. He's like me. Unless you start something, I'm laid back and easy going. Just remember that I'm a veteran with PTSD, and we'll get along fine. Oh, did I mention that I'm opening my own gunsmithing business here on the east coast? My friends thought a Christian Coffee Shop was a little strange. They're still walking around with a strange look on their faces over a Christian firearms business. Think I'll call it, "CROSS-hair FIREARMS: Shoot Straight and Tell No Lies." Have fun out there and stay safe!:smt066

they are slower at gordon and wont give you a autoshift even when youve been there awhile and your knee is (clutch worn)sad state its 2013 and the army has been auto since 73 wake up.For you gearheads no offense and dont poke fun youve seen the walking wounded too.And I doubt youve drove and been shot at like many proud autoshifters i know.thats why celadon seems to care more for oos and company irregardless of garage time outs emissions usually.
