Anyone work out of the west coast for Celedon? I live in the Sacramento area and am wondering how it would be working out of this location?
Do they have dedicated runs at all? I don't see a terminal out west listed on the website but I see my area is in the primary hiring area on their map.
Any info is appreciated. I drive OTR for a LTL company right now and it jsut seems like Celedon has better pay and benefits...
Thank you in advance for your comments! -

Hi all. An update from last week. It looks like dear hubby did take that other $50 advance, so he was charged $4, or $2 for each advance since he took two advances in the same week. He forgot to tell me about it. I keep track of his advances, tolls, scale tickets, etc and match them against his check each week. I've given him fair warning that if he doesn't start keeping better track of the advances I would staple his winkie to his leg. So, he's been off to the east coast again, PA to unload, then reload in NJ back to WI, and now heading down south. I read in another thread on Celadon that they don't preplan at all. Strange, because before he even got to WI to drop they had him on another load heading south. This load delivers tomorrow, and they've already sent him a load assignment heading out west about two hours after he had picked up this load he's on now. Guess it depends on your DM. The gal he's got is really on the ball. I'd say about 65% of the time she's got him pretty well preplanned. He's going to be out another two weeks, and left last week on Wed morning, as he had to be home Tues for an appointment. So a bit of a short week coming up. But the next couple of weeks should make up for it.
Oh, the load to MI that wasn't on his last check was because the load didn't scan through originally for some reason, and then he lost the BOL for the load. He had to call the receiver and get a copy of it faxed to Celadon, and it was on this past Friday's check. And the two toll receipts that he hasn't been reimbursed for are because he hasn't sent the darn things in yet. So I've threatened to staple those to his forehead. He did call payroll and asked about the toll receipts, and they told him to resend the load paperwork WITH the toll receipts this time, and write on there already paid for load, but not toll receipts. So we're square with them again. And he's only got 10,000 more miles to go to that $1000 vacation pay. He won't get the week off as it's his first 30,000 miles with them but is supposed to get the vacation pay. He won't get the first actual week off till 60,000 miles. That's ok though, the extra money will be a big help. -
They do have a dedicated run(heard through the DM) that was El Paso area to CA. However, he said you had to live near El Paso. Thats the only dedicated I have heard of lately.
As of right now we don't have a terminal out west. The closest would be El Paso.
Good luck.. -
Well even though I live in FL, Celadon is starting to interest me. What equipment do they run? I will probably sign on once I get enough OTR experience. Keep the updates T. Wilson.

Hubby drives an 05 International with a straight ten. Got the jake brake in it, power windows, CD player, air ride on both seats. Very clean when he got it. I believe it was a team trade up as it is a double bunk, but then all their trucks could have double bunks in them. But like I said, his truck was a team trade up. I think that most of their trucks though are pretty comfy since the driver has to live in it. The teams I believe are getting the new 08 Volvos. I think they run some Freightliner Centuries as well, but I don't know about that. I think that they have a team that actually does the detailing work on the trucks before they are given to a new driver to get them really clean inside. I know when he got his, if it wasn't for the fact that it was an 05, you'd have sworn it was brand new looking at the inside. It was very clean. Looked like the mattresses were even new. They were clean, no stains on them, and wrapped in sealed plastic. But I could be wrong. Maybe it was just that the folks who had it before him took really good care. Who knows. He did have to wait a few hours after orientation to get it though because they said it was being cleaned.
Good luck. -
All celadon trucks that I have seen have double bunks yes they clean them up good and put new matresses in them my husbands truck was very clean and new matresses when he got in it
-
Well glad he is still happy there
Did he scan in that log I was missing to? L.o.l. Not sweating it really!
Yes we put new mattresses in the trucks if I recall right!
Yes they are cleaned before another driver gets the truck.
Tell hubby to quit messing with your money
Have a great night and day tomorrow!
I am sure I will have a busy day as usual on Fridays! -
Logs the next time I come to Indy with my husband I will have to see you I want to learn the split break my hubby sez the only reason he does it is because the log program on his computer does it for him.
