    I'm trying to cut back on as many expenses as possible. Can anyone tell me which prepaid phone plan works best? Hubby runs primarily in Southwest, out of Phoenix. Thanks!

    I had Verizon. IMO, they are a ripoff with their $1 daily fee. I use Straight Talk now. They run off the Verizon or ATT network depending on what zip code you buy your phone.

    You get 1000 minutes for $30 or unlimited for $45. You'll spend $45-60 easy with Verizon. $30 does me just fine now.

    How do you know which phone you are getting??
    On the bottom left of the box is a code
    CDMA = Verizon
    GSM = ATT

    You get a better deal buying the phone off the Straighttalk.com website than you do at Walmart. You can call customer service to ensure you get the CDMA phone. I know my town (37332) is CDMA. The next town over is GSM (37321) if you want to compare phones with your zip code. Each zip code offers different phones depending if ATT or Verizon works best in your area.

    Your best bet OTR is the Verizon network. I had Sprint, then went to Verizon, then StraightTalk. I'm happiest with StraightTalk because it's cheaper and no contract.

    You just missed the sale. They had the LG511C, $200 phone for $25. You still can get the Samsung 355C reconditioned for $20. It's like new and a good phone. It looks like a Blackberry. Not so much a pocket phone unless you lock the exposed keypad. But it's good for texting and the web. I much rather have the LG touch screen. They have different sales online weekly.

    You must of had the ATT one (GSM). There's a huge difference. Nobody beats the Verizon network. Go to eastern KY and TN and see how Sprint works in the hills. :)
    It doesn't work in many of the midwest states out in the boonies either.

    My Virgin Mobile phone is rarely without a signal, and it uses Sprint as well.

    My wife visited Hazard , Ky and that was the only place she couldn't get a signal . I also have dead spot on highway 59 in TX . Straight Talk had too many dead spots close to home in KY .
    I agree Verizon does have the best coverage and AT&T the worst .
