I have verizon, before that I had sprint, sprint would not work in fringe areas in the country, verizon has never let me down,I pay 81.30,if I had verizon cell phones it would be just 59.95 plus tax. Both sprint net card was unlimited and verizon unlimited ,and never roaming charges on either,I may be switching to verizon cell phones,as for only 10.00 extra a month you can get the talking gps, deal,if you make a wrong turn it tells you to turn around and corrects you back again. Don't forget it is not cheap, but,it is all tax deductible thru out the year, its business and a tool to do your job and your entertainment also.

Just to clarify, Verizon has NEVER been unlimited. Perhaps a year ago VZW had more data coverage, but since Sprint can EVDO roam with Alltel and 1x with VZW in many areas, the actual coverage numbers put Sprint's data plans ahead of Verizon's. On another note, I have the "talking GPS" on my Sprint phone along with unlimited Internet access for $20/month. Sprint has a deal with Microsoft where you can actually look up businesses based on your current location by speaking the name of the business, which is really awesome. If I make a wrong turn, Sprint Navigation simply reroutes so I'm not backtracking or trying to pull a U-turn in the middle of I-94.

Just for your info, I would really consider something like the Flying J service too. You mention that you want good download speed. If you plan to use your connection A LOT, I would still suggest something like Flying J. If you can plan your trips around the locations you stop more often, you will save a lot of money. Plus the speed is better. Heck I am a WoW player. The speeds there are fast enough for that. Much like sitting at home behind a wifi router. You can get service for a year for like 199. Thats like 15bucks a month. If you want to do it by the day, its like 5 bucks. Thats about the same for the other guys. Thats what I did, I had a year service for 199 and then if I did have a rare stop at a TA or something, I just did the 5 buck thing. It worked for me. Service anywhere is nice when talking about sprint and stuff, but normally you take a hit on download speeds, amount of downloads you can do, cost of equipment, and the really high service fee. Its enough to balance it out anyways. It works for some, not me. Maybe it would work for you. Just giving you another option.

I had sprint first, but, when you are out in the sticks and in rural areas, sometimes you can't get it to work. I have switched to verizon and has never failed me once, works all over the country, small towns and all. I like my sprint cell phone ok though,I pay 79 a month for verizon unlimited netcard for laptop and had sprint plan on cell for 59 a month, not unlimited,I just switched to a deal from interstate connections in the ta at seffler for sprint, unlimited new phone, pics, text unlimited minutes, internet, calls in and out unlimited for 90 a month with 2 year contract, called the wife while making the deal, she said go for it,best plan for us,I can email my pics, print pics all unlimited.Phone has lithium battery, can talk over 3 hrs on a charge. You can email me for info if I am allowed.

when did they ever have a 59/month plan that wasn't unlimited? i can't remember a time when it wasn't $40 for some tiny amount versus $60 for unlimited. the cell plan sounds nice, though. i just bought a second sprint aircard.

I haven't had ANY problems with Sprint. I have found that even with ANY phone signal, I have Sprint internet, even if it isn't "BroadBand" speeds.

595 is just a model card specifically a sierra wireless. Keep in mind you cannot just buy an EVDO card and get any carrier to activate it. A card must have an ESN issued by that carrier. In other words you cannot buy a used card on Ebay that was used on Sprint before and then try and activate on Alltel or Verizon and vice versa. Alltel has several different cards they offer . I do not believe they offer the Sierra Wireless 595

I've used my laptop all over the country. I don't really trust Wi-Fi spots at truck stops that much anymore. I think the best I've used is Alltel Wireless. It cost the same at 59 bucks a month as the Cingular/ AT&T, which was the absolute worst I've ever used. When you did get a signal with AT&T, it was SSSSSSLLLLLLLOOOOOWWWWW!!! Click on a link, then go take a nap while it loads. Alltel is very fast and secure. :biggrin_25514:

Netflix has a program now where you can download movies to play on the computer. Would I be able to use an Alltell card to do this?
