It'd be great if someone researched what they said before they posted.

The alltel/verizon merger has been approved by the FCC under the condition that Verizon sells off its assets in certain states where their coverage overlaps.

Sprint doesn't have roaming charges on their plans. The only roaming charges are the international charges, which Verizon also has. They used to have regional plans where if you left a certain region you had roaming charges, but the newer plans simply don't have them.

Actually has not been approved by FCC yet . The Vote for the FCC is on November 4 . It has been approved by DOJ ( Department of Justice )pending them selling the assets in 22 states.

You're quite right, apparently I got my departmental acronyms mixed up. Was staring at me on the front page of DSLR for 3 days and still screwed it up. Either way, if it's Verizon, it'll get approval by the FCC. Money buys you friends with power. Maybe that's why the Sirius/XM merger took so long.

Anyway, I hadn't actually heard of roaming charges in a long time, then I was talking to a new hire at our Gary terminal and he told me he got a huge bill from Centennial Wireless for roaming when he thought he had a nationwide plan. I'm glad I dropped Centennial years ago.
