I've done a little research this evening, perhaps it was already discussed, I'm not certain.

Millenicom apparently uses Sprint. It will work everywhere that Sprint works. The screenshots of their software interfaces are identical to my Sprint software, except it does not say "Sprint" anywhere on it. For $49.99/mo + $49.99 one-time fee, UNLIMITED, and NO CONTRACT. If that is all truth, then it would be a pretty good deal.

Beware though, if you find yourself in Canada or Mexico, though... Sprint will work there- but...

OUCH. What if you're way up north, right on the border, and the best signal it gets is from Canada? You're *IN* the US, but you'd be charged "$20/minute + fees".

WOW.

Been on the road the last couple of weeks using the Franklin modem from Millenicom and wanted to give an update. I'm very happy with it. I've gotten good to great signal most places. Only had a very slow connection once, in a covered loading dock behind a metal building. Figured it was the location. I read my email, downloaded some docs and printed them while we were driving across Idaho. Not bad. I haven't had much time to play with streaming video, though. Maybe next trip.

My next move is to switch my cell phone from Verizon to Consumer Cellular. I can get 1600 minutes for $60/mo with no contract. They piggy back on the Cingular/ATT network. We shall see...

i had verizon air card for 2 weeks and just returned, thank god I don't get charged a dime if I return in 30 days, I was 3 times over their limit.

I just got sprint, same price and unlimited? clearly sprint has the upper hand here. We'll see how the service is.

Unlimited is nuts, i'll have this downloading all day and night.

Also, to all my schneider brothers, schneider employees get 15% off.

Any idea how much "40 MB" might equate to usage in layman's terms? For example... watching one movie would be.... how many MB ? It also says "data usage w/out a plan is 3 cents/KB."

I also went to the Verizon website and saw this:[/list]Wow!

Can someone with a Verizon AirCard can give us an idea what your final monthly bill is after they add all of the above to it?

I got scared when I saw that also but it only adds up to about 3-4 bucks a month I think.

I have two verizon cell phones and the air card and my bill last month was around $134 for all 3.

That is with no minute charges for the month.

Watching 1 movie might take up as much as SEVERAL GigaBytes, with a GB being 1028X MegaBytes
ONE PLAIN TEXT EMAIL can be as little as 4KB, one HTML email can be as much as 40KB to 50KB (or more)
3 bits = 1 BYTE
1KB = 1028 BYTES
1MB = 1028KB
1GB = 1028MB

Thought I would jump on this since I have some experience now. After the headaches of finding internet during training (I admit I am an addict and need regular access), I decided to get an aircard before coming out. I have been on the road now 5 weeks, using the Millinicom service, which I believe uses the Sprint network.

So far I have had no real complaints. Using just the stock card (no additional antenna yet), I almost always have SOME access, even if it is slow 1x speed. Almost any time I am in/near a city I am able to get evdo speeds, and have not yet had any issues with going over any limits (watching streaming tv, downloading music, and some limited gaming (wow, chat only, too high latency to play much atm)).

So far, I would easily recommend this, and hope it helps.
