What's the best cellphone service to have?

Hi guys, please pardon the new thread -

What cellphone service do you guys have, and why?

I am a rookie, I'm OTR, and I currently have no cellphone, but I have found that I will definitely need one. I've got a wife that I will be calling daily, and a dispatcher that I will also be calling daily. I will prolly add cellular internet onto the cellphone plan once I get a laptop.

Just wanted to pick the veteran's brains a little bit, since this wasn't in the newbie FAQ.

Well, I started with verizon and had good service. We had 2 contracts back to back with them. They had pretty good coverage, but in the end I got tired of a lot of stupid stuff they were doing. We went to cingular and I liked the roll over minutes. AT&T bought them and the service is not as good as it was, but we just renewed with them. I will never go back to verizon and AT&T works for me, so I guess we will stay with them.

SPRINT

ive been with sprint the entire time ive been driving and am very pleased. of course ALL cell carriers are gonna have dead spots, but sprint has been surprisingly good.. so good in fact that the wireless card i have for my laptop is sprint as well.
oh yeah, sprint just made available a new plan that is COMPLETELY unlimited, talk and text for 89.99 a month, 10.00 more and u can have unlimited web browsing on ur phone too. but 89.99 for unlimited is pretty good it think.
good luck on the new career

I personally use Sprint because they have the best CDMA roaming agreements and the best roaming coverage. If you do get a CDMA carrier such as Sprint, be sure to get a phone with analog. You will be going places where they don't have the towers updated and have no plans to. I used to swear by GSM carriers but after trying a few the call quality suffered and the dropped call numbers were quite high. If I even have 1 bar on my Sprint phone, I can talk as if I had a full signal.

I have ATT, while my aircard uses Sprint's network. Both have had good coverage in my limited time out. At this point I would look for the best plan and the phone you want. Sprint has their 99$ 'everything' plan at the moment that seems pretty good, while ATT/Verizon want 99 for just voice calls and data is extra.

Don't bother with T-Mobile...that's what I have now, and I'm looking for something else.

Verizon with a few caveats

I have had Verizon for 5 years and I have coverage everywhere. Only thing that pisses me off is they won't give me roll over. Sometimes business use forces me to talk to non Verizon phones so much I go over my 700 minutes. Then I pay someting like 40 cpm. CRAZY!!! Some months I use 300 anytime minutes and some months I use 720 and get hit with overages. In all I use about 3000 to 5000 in-network minutes talking to family who also have Verizon. I don't even have a land line for the last two years. I don't miss that cord at all. Watch out for laptop card access. Unlimited use does not mean unlimited use!
