Cell Phone Conversation Leakage

Some vital and confidential information has fallen into the hands of a competitor. This information was discussed over my cell phone near the office. The person I was talking to, a long time trusted employee and the only one privy to this info swears he told no one. I really want to believe him. Is there some sort of device that could pick up cell phone conversations? Would it pick up all conversations on one number or could it pick up all conversations.

Thanks all for any help you can give me.

A scanner could. It picks up the first signal that it finds. The scanner would have to be setup to work in the 800mhz range though

I've always heard those are EXPENSIVE and not that common.

I see what you mean. Thats like saying that WERE CAUSING "GLOBAL WARMING". We have kept only 120 or so years of of weather data for a planet that has been around for 1.6billion or so years.

It would take either an "old" scanner, or a modified one to do this. And it's illegal.

You have several options avaliable to you here.

#1. Believe your employee had nothing to do with it.
#2. Use a security device (scrambler) from now on. They can be purchased online.

If it was inside information, meaning internal to your company ONLY. Then I would be highly suspect of anyone.

If it was "confidential" information regarding your business dealings with another business. Then you have a third, possibly even a 4th and 5th party to consider.

Nothing remains private within a business, unless you speak to no one.

Even then you must be careful about memos, and where they wind up at. Immediate shreading is prefered.

There are two other issues to consider-

1. Speakerphone- I hate these things. I hate when the calls come from them, and I hate talking on them. People hear stuff.

2. Nextel 2 way- Too many drivers are lax about this thing- turn the volume off and use it like a phone, you never know who is listening.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone heard something either of those 2 ways...

Good luck!

they are illegal but you can get them on ebay. ether from another country or any scanner can be modified to get those channels. actually they are modified to not get them you just unmodify them to get the channels.
even then though those get analog signals and not the digital 99.9% of cell calls get. You can get the equipment to pick up any cell but it is expensive as heck and EXTREAMLY ilegal/heavily policed. I'd loo into the other erson personaly. mabey leak them some false info and see what happens
