Ok so I am curious if any of you have an experience with this and can help me out before I am forced to spend 3 hours calling att.

I currently have a cell phone that I can hook up to my laptop and access the internet with. Now currently my plan with att is the unlimited data plan (media net i think its called). I can access the Internet watch youtube etc etc as much as I want for free on my cell phone.

Now my question is if I hook my cell phone up to my PC and use the internet through it does it count under my unlimited data plan or do I need to purchase something else.

    Thanks for any help

Technically, depending on the type of phone you have, you should be able to do this. However, if AT&T catches that you are using the device for tethering, then they can/will charge you for every kilobyte you've consumed while tethered.

What you'll have to do is have tethering added to your data plan, which costs an additional $30/month.
