| Plus the cost of the card (around $300) for dial-up speeds. WiFi is a better deal. Free all over the place and around $25 a month where it is not. Much faster too. The wireless cards will allow you to surf while running down the road and will work everywhere you have coverage. Sounds dangerous to me. I still cant figure out why the cops let these guys run down the road with the computer turned on. Talk about a distraction. Even for routing, it is a very bad idea.

| At one time it was slower then dial up, I was looking at it long before WiFi was available and the fastest connection available was below 25 Ks. At that speed it would take forever for the grafics to load on a lot of websights... |

| have verizon love it, can surf from just about anywhere, i average 600bkps in most areas. $59 for verizon bb is better than $25 a month for wifi at a t/s where you are sharing with 100 truckers.... k |

| Re: Air Card Quote:
Am I a driver? Used to be. I retired on May 4th of this year. I have over 20 years experience. Logic? Sense? Go down the road and watch the ####### you are passing. They are playing with thier XM/FM, reading, talking on the phone, watching movies, and playing with their computers. All the while going down the road at 65MPH and using as many lanes as they desire. I think I have allot more sense on this particular subject then you think I do. It is one thing to talk on the CB while driving as you are only using the mic. All this other stuff requires allot of your attention. And GPS on a computer screen is distracting. You have a full size screen causing reflections and glare in the cab. Plus the screen is feet away and you have to turn your head right to look at it. A small handheld GPS like the iQUE3600 offers more then what you can get for the computer, sets on the dash, has an amplified speaker and does not require you to take your eyes off the road to look at it.

| I just got a verizon card about two weeks ago, and in some places I can get broadband speeds, others I get dial up. As for using the comp on the road, the biggest problem we have is being tempted to surf the net when we should be sleeping. On the other hand, it sure is convinient and helpful to be able to get on anywhere, any time. Oh, and the card only cost me $79 at Best Buy. For navigating, we use the computer, but usually my hubby does the city driving while I sit in the passenger seat with the laptop in my lap and tell him which way to turn. Works great cause he can concentrate on the traffic more, and we have two sets of eyes watching the road. It's hell on the logbook though cause I have to log it on-duty.

| Re: Verizon Wireless Broadband Kcorey I always agree with you....except for this time. I run a pc with gps navigation and have it in position for perfect use. Its up near the dash where my radio is. It in fact has taken the place of it. I have the new streets and trips version (2006) which has a night vision map for nighttime use. I also turn my screen brightness all the way down and have NO glare what so ever. Its all in the user. I also run my pc in contrast mode for night time operations which makes everything dark. You can find this setting in your display properties under the appearance tab. Most times I dont have to look at my screen due to the fact that it talks to me, however if I do need to glance at it its no more than eye movement which takes no longer than it does to adjust your cb or fm radio. It can be done safely and I guess I do partialy agree with you as I to have seen some go down the road without alot or none of the features I mentioned in use. Iceratt |

| Re: Verizon Wireless Broadband I WANT TO KNOW WHO PAID $300 FOR THE CARD????? I PAID $50 FOR THE CARD AND GOT A $50 MIR, SO NO COST FOR THE CARD, NOT A NORMAL DEAL BUT IF YOU PUSH THE VERIZON STORE A LITTLE THEY WILL THROW STUFF AT YOU. SERVICE, WORKS BASICALLY EVERYWHERE, HAVE BEEN USING IT FOR 3 MONTHS, NEVER HAD A SHIPPER FROM WHO'S LOT IT DID NOT WORK, AND ASSIDE FROM SOME REAL REMOTE AREAS ON THE HIGHWAY IT WORKS WITHOUT FLAWS. SPEED..... NORMALY GREAT. JUST SPEED TESTED ON BANDWIDTHPLACE.COM Communications 3.1 megabits per second Storage 384.4 kilobytes per second 1MB file download 2.7 seconds IT IS FASTEST NEAR BIG CITIES BUT ALWAYS FASTER THAN DIALUP. $60 A MONTH BUT WELL WORTH IT IMHO. TRUCK STOP SERVICE #$20 PER MONTH PER SERVICE, IF YOU BUY SYSTEM FOR THE HOOK AND FOR THE PILOT YOU GOT $40 RIGHT THERE AND YOU HAVE TO GO THERE TO SURF. ALSO I USED WIFI FOR A FEW WEEKS AND THE T/S'S WITH ALL THE TRUCKERS USING THE WIFI SERVICE WAS SLOW. K |
