So add in the cost of a shower on top of that, and it's the same price to stay in a motel.

And you know that the floors have been cleaned in the showers once in the last 20 years at least.

At 25% you are idling half of the number of ten hour days you work. If you sleep at night and keep the truck off when its not more than 75 at bed time you can really cut your idle time. Window screens will help, and there are even window fans now. Summer is the hardest time to keep your idle times down since its easier to get warm than it is to cool down. Do they reward you for doing better with your idle time than is required?
Once you get an APU (I think truck makers will make them a standard soon) your going to find out that the idle time numbers will go down and your limit will be about 5%, mine is 3% on average. On real hot days I still need to idle to get the temp in the sleeper down since the APU cant keep up with temps more than 95F outside.

25% of 10 is---2.5 ...so how do you come up with 25% of a 10hr day being half of a 10hr day ?

And since when do you the driver always sleep at night?

window screend/fans do nothing worth while in 85 and up temps ,because the coolest you can acieve at best at night would be 85 or whatever the outside temp , and forget the daytime my incab thermometer read 90 parked with windows/bunk vents wide open and 2 fans in the DAYTIME sun in Denver ,CO and it was only in 75-78 .

And let us not forget that sleeper time is not the only time heat/ac are required basic comfort. Also what about those 1500-2000 mile weeks ,and week end sitting now what ?...25% idle is only achieveable if you're willing to live like a hobo .

Companies like Central need to fall off the planet their high level managemnt are not living like the homeless trust me on this ,so if you don't have the resources to give a driver heat/ac ,but you have money for things like private jets your company needs to go under .
