Just applied to Central

I all,

I've been lurking for quite a while. I've got about 6 months experience with none in the last year. (Got out of the truck in September 2007). Went back to home repair, but lagging economy and a desire to get back on the road brought me back. I have'nt talked to a recruiter yet, but from reading other posts here the economy has seriously slowed the trucking industry and not many are hiring. I'm willing to do a refresher, whatever it takes to get back behind the wheel. Just hoping for a positive response from the application.

Has the economy hurt the refrigerated market or is it just a slow time of year?

I just got my cdl from central yesterday. I think central is good for people like me, who are looking for a company to help get a cdl and start a career in trucking. With your 6 months experience you should work for TMC trans. It's a flatbed company so you work hard but you can be home every weekend and the pay is almost twice as much as central.

I should have posted the response to my application before this. I let my application sit almost two weeks before I called after receiving no response. I wasn't given a reason, just "No". I haven't been in a truck in over a year, and if your post is correct about not hiring east of Iowa is true, I now know why. I've had no accidents, tickets, DUI, etc, so that explains it. Sitting out of the industry for over a year and the Bush/Obama economy has pretty much put an end to my desire to return to the road. Hope everyone stays safe and maybe, just maybe I'll be out the when the economy pics up.

We are not owned by Swift, but we are owned by a family member of the guy that owns Swift.

We are affiliated with them in a few ways, but not owned.

Hi Brickman81,
Central appears a good starter company and per their website is the 10% of the freight is driver unload claim true in you experiences? Also my only hurdle being work history is inconsistent from layoffs, but not bad from terminations or anything so do you know of anyone recently hired with an this type of work history? Since the $3k for school is on the employee I am wondering if that relieves the strict focus on work history. Thanks
