Physical test

Can anyone tell me the extent of the physical test at Central Ref. Do you have to carry 75 lbs. some distance with a heart monitor on like I read about another co.
Can someone with breathing problems pass the test.

Frankie I know in some cases places have it but the DOT will check everything, I have to get my diabetics under control and they checked breathing, eyes etc. If you have a breathing problem you should find out what extent it is because it can fail you from passing a dot physical and no matter who you try to drive for will not take you. It is important to be able to pass the DOT physical you can go online by the state you live in and find out this information

Yes you WILL be tested with the weights & heart monitor & all kinds of dumb stuff. Its not really that bad, but I don't have any problems. Just do a little weight lifting beforehand to get used to it.

My problem is that I have asthma. I can lift weights but I would have a problem with carrying the wieght further than the length of a large room.
If I let them know that I have asthma will I be sent home?
If I lie is there any way they can find out?

NEVER, EVER LIE TO THEM ABOUT ANYTHING!

They will find every little thing you have ever done & said when they do there little background check on you & if they catch something you didn't tell them about yourself, you will be sent packing faster then you can blink.

You need to be able to carry the weight at least the length of a 53' foot trailer, also need to lift it above your head several times.

Do drivers do a lot of unloading at Central? I don't mind unloading if they will pay me what they would pay a lumper,

This sounds like a flatbedder physical test. Why does a reefer company need its drivers able to lift 75 lb over their head? Color me a confused skateboarder

I am going through the program on monday. When I got the paperwork with stuff to bring and what to expect, it says they will test you for lifting 75lb to the waist and 50lb over the head. That doesn't sound too bad.

Do you know what your heart rate has to be under for that? My blood pressure is great but I don't have a whole lot of upper body strength.

It does for me.

Do you know the shape of the weights? I went to Walmart the other day to see what it's like and I could barely carry a 40something lb bucket of paint thinner very far. I suppose it might be easier if it's a dumbell? Am I in trouble?
