| All the recuiters verify all their own apps, which sometimes can take some time, but should at least take the time to call you back. Near as I can figure there may be something wrong with the recuiter and perhaps has not been in the office or something. Call SLC and ask for the head of recuiting to find out more info. Keep after them. |

| That quote was in reference to another post where someone had said to watch how many students go in the front door. No I am not there anymore, I made the mistake of quitting, but never should have. What I would suggest is try to get along with your FM 1st. If you can't see eye to eye than switch. I still stay in contact with the people I worked with in Irving, they will take good care of anybody and hold up their end of the bargain, I say this because I know them personally and still consider them my friends. Enjoy CRS and good luck. As for stepping on toes, tell them u talked to an ex driver and the people in Irving come Highly recommended, shouldn't offend anyone, if it does, they don't have anything better to worry about. |

| Is Central worth it? After reading these posts, I have to say I think Central is worth the risk. It seems like they may have their act together. That company, which seems to have risen like a Phoenix from the ashes of Dick Simon's monstrosity, may actually be a good company to work for, assuming these posters are really employed as drivers there. And I see no reason to think they're posers trying to sucker drivers into coming to work for that company. Central now just has to pass the "help-wanted ad" and "orientation class-size" tests. If they do, I think they'd definitely be worth the risk. Does anyone know if they are advertising in the papers around the intermountain west outside the SL area? I know I've not seen a Central ad recently in the help-wanteds in Salt Lake, but that doesn't mean much. All those companies that used to advertise daily in the Salt Lake Tribune have pretty much quit doing that. I guess they learned drivers have gotten smart to those kinds of companies and know to avoid 'em. I know England quit advertising in the Salt Lake Tribune, but they still advertise constantly outside the Salt Lake Valley. What about Central?

| I don't really believe the newspaper ads are a valid way to determine a company's noteworthiness. Many reputable businesses use print media approaches to attract employees. It's a business model used by many companys. If you don't have a marketing background though, it's easy to see how you may relate this solely to bad companies. However, it seems like the ads I have seen are from high turnover type outfits. Which if you peel back the onion a little it's easy to understand why. Starter companies will always have a high turnover, mainly because they hire rookies that will leave rather quickly. Rookies also have incidents much more easily, from lack of experience. Rookies also find that the industry is just not for them, and thus leave. Ultimately, a high turnover rate. This is not to say these starter outfits are great either. They know how to turn a buck at the expense of resources (drivers). Is the company to blame? I think not. They are using resources to make money. As long as drivers put themself in a position to be used it will continue. It would take alot factual background to convince me that because a company takes advantage of print ads to obtain leads that the said company should be avoided. That just doesn't pass the acid test. |

| From one who holds a doctorate in trucking ploys You're preaching to the choir here, Nevada. But I understand why you'd treat someone like he's an idiot and doesn't know the trucking industry. You're new here, after all. Sounds like you have a few things to learn. I know all about the reasons why the high-turnover outfits advertise. You're talking to a guy who's got a PhD from the college of trucking knocks. The turnover "problem" at bigger companies is a cycle, really. Let me fill you in, ol' cuss. Companies fill an orientation class with trucking school grads, grads that have been drawn in like honeybees to spring flowers. The companies hire them on, send them to the front lines, and then abuse them. Those drivers then quit, surprise, surprise. And when they do quit, they are replaced by new trucking school grads, grads that may have attended a school the abusing company has a stake in. Yeah, you guessed it--each grad brings these companies more income, in the form of grants or tuition, meaning it's in the interest of these companies that their drivers do quit--those drivers can be replaced by grads, who in turn get abused, who then quit and are replaced by fresh grads, and on and on and on. How do these companies keep the cycle going? Marketing. Those drivers a company abuses are easily replaced using slick advertisements and recruitment tactics (flat-out lying), and if a newbie isn't aware of this meat grinder, he may fall into it. One manifestation of the marketing ploy is the help-wanted advertisement. If a company advertises a lot, it means it can't keep help around and probably doesn't want to keep help around. I wouldn't give such a company a second glance. I don't care if that ad is on a billboard, in a newspaper, or above a truck stop urinal. You won't see me driving for that company. It really is that simple. NASA doesn't advertise because it doesn't need to advertise. ABF doesn't advertise because it doesn't need to advertise. Both of these entities have one thing in common that ensures they don't need to advertise--they're great outfits that know how to keep their employees. They also have no incentive in seeing their present employees quit. In other words, they treat them right from the get-go and keep on treating them right. Ignore trucking company advertisements at your own risk. A help-wanted in a paper says a LOT about a company, mainly that you need to "stay very far away". After getting my doctorate in trucking, I sure as hell wouldn't work for a company that advertises for drivers more than about once a month. I learned.

| One thing I've noticed about Central Ref is they have decent equipment.Both White and Black Volvo Condo's.

| Be careful of CRS When I was recruited for Central, the recruiting brochure said home every 9 days. The recruiter also said that that I would go from 29/cpm to 30/cpm after 3 months.....NOT!!! I didn't start to recieve 30/cpm until 6 months with the company. I had to fire my 1st Fleet Manager after he made me 10 days late for Reserve Drill. I have been told by MANY drivers to "watch your pay" but hard copy of the pay settlements don't get sent in a timely manner (2 months behind right now). However on a positive note they do take very good care of the equipment (as long as you go to the SLC Terminal). |

| Hi I just wanted to say that you are wrong on central Ref my husband and I have been with them for 5 years now as team drivers and at first we were company drivers and for the last 2 and a half years we have been owner operaters and we have had no problems with them that you wouldnt have with any other company there fuel pay back is great they will work with you on things until you have worked for them you shouldnt say bad things about them and so what if we were part of swift |
