I just want to say you are wrong about Central they are a well respected co and Jerry moyes is only a share holder in central just like he is in swift we are not a part of swift and I am as well as my husband are proud to Work for central. If you look in the paper they are not the only ones that are advertiseing in the help wanted ads there is a lot of co. asking for drivers so unless you work for central you shouldnt talk bad about them 5 yrs. is a long time to stay with a company if they are bad, and my husband and i have been with them for that long and will continue to stay Thank you

Hey wrinkle unless you know the company you shouldnt talk bad about them, they have been real good to us, we are owner operaters every one there is very nice and will work with you on things, we have been with them for 5 yrs. I give thanks to jesus that central was around, and if jesus was around it wouldnt be bad if they did recrute him.

And I have also driven for Central, and I can tell you, they have issues. Central is outright owned by Jerry, or more like "Jerry's Kids".

I had a buddy of mine quit the other month because they wouldn't give him any freight to get the truck to get repaired (Right before the blitz) so he quit, he had been trying to get into the shop for a month to get stuff fixed. They had him sit for 5 days in Denver and finally he just Bobtailed to SLC to turn in his truck and pick up his stuff. They charged him Bobtail miles, which he got over turned, but still.

I ran the skunk flag years ago - first driving job was west way - who was bought by simon when they also bough ORT...



central has a lot of old faces in the office I still know -

they are a good starter company - but you will yearn for more quickly...

Yes, you are right. "Just because they advertise in the papers doesn't mean they suck." But I'd look elsewhere, nonetheless. Going to work for a company that's a flower-pot in the help wanteds is too much of a gamble in my book.

So.....speaking of books......I'd be looking in a certain book when choosing a company to work for if I were looking in the Salt Lake valley--the Qwest phone book. One can go to the phone book in the Salt Lake area, open it up to the 'trucking companies' sections, and see how many companies are listed. He can then go to the help-wanteds in the Salt Lake Tribune or the Desert News and see how many companies are listed begging for drivers. Last I checked, it was about 12 to 1 in favor of the phone book. Many times more companies are listed in the yellow pages than are listed in the help wanteds. This is because most companies in the Salt Lake area don't need to advertise, as they treat drivers like they're supposed to and don't need a help wanted ad in the papers every day of the world like some around there that just can't stay out of newspaper classified sections.

so tell me whats the skinny about central. i like to find out. i like to get some feed back on this company. i have looked at them, but yet to make up my mind. the only person that seems to post is lonesome dove. so has anyone else anything to say good or bad. i will be checking back in a bit.. hey lonesome i am not on you just need to have moore then one persons view. you seem to enjoy being there for almost six years and thats great. yet one persons joy can be another agony

Didn't good ole Jerry just buy back all of SWIFT in July or August?
