per diem question

I have used "Turbo Tax" for most of the last 15 years. I do my own taxes.
TT is great and will walk you through just about everything you need.
It works for personal, business and investments too...

 

I have used it in the past. But it does not, or at least a few years ago, did not, perdiem correctly for OTR drivers.
It asked all the proper questions. But did not use the proper rate.
So I either pay someone to do them, or I do them myself. And even when I pay someone to do them I check the work they do to make sure I come up with the same answer.

You want to see a really LARGE deduction look at my example and use a realistic number of days out for a team.
I used a very lowball number. 90% of Central drivers will be on the road 320 days a year.
So do the math on a team that way.

320 x 59 x .8 x 2 = 30,208

Now that is a good deduction when you made less than 100k total as a first year team filing jointly.
