CFI felt like one of the better companies out there. I didn't stay long with them because I decided to finish what I started at home when I left and try to get into the Army. Here's my breakdown.

Good:
Live person to talk to instead of machines.
XM Radio for ALL drivers!
No more lease program.
EZ Pass and Pike Pass.
CAT engines on most trucks.
Good country music for "on hold" music.
Forms that ask you about your 11, 14, and 70.
Practical miles(duh!).
.10 per mile goes into an advance account.
Paid what you are dispatched instead of waiting for paperwork.
Assignment shows if you can park overnight at customer.

Bad:
#### I hate those mid-roofs.
Paid every two weeks.
Can only get $25 advance after fueling.
Comcheks for expenses can sometimes come out of your pay before reimbursement forms arrive.
Can only access advance account at terminals.
Why only Pilots?
No arrival window but a straight 50mph dispatch.
No OTR routing, only local routing.
Don't get ETA until AFTER you acknowledge.
Don't get directions for 2nd stop until after you've made the 1st.

After working for CFI for 2 1/2 years, I finally had enough. Before I go further, I would like to pull the rug out from anyone who chooses to belittle or negate my post.

#1 I NEVER had a service failure.
#2 I used to train for CFI.
#3 I used to make fair money with CFI.
#4 I NEVER received a "safety" violation of any kind.
#5 I never had an accident/ticket.
#6 I was within 20k of having 360K miles with CFI
#7 My CURRENT company has been around just as long as CFI.

A recent meeting with Mr. Hatfield provided me with the incentive to leave. He plainly told me if I expected to run more than 2400 miles a week, or have more time at home (instead of the truck stops) I should seek another job.

Taking the CFI statement of "Never settling for less" to heart, I left.

Now I only run about 2500(average) miles a week, I am home 3 nights a week...of which 48 hours are consecutive. And I am making MORE money.

CFI PAYCHECK comparison...

My last check with current company.. 2756 miles = $1636.00 pre-tax with 2 1/2 days home

THE SAME CHECK with CFI would have been $1019.72 pre-tax...with NO HOME TIME.

My health benefits are BETTER. And, my dispatcher does not ask for my truck number when I call in. She knows me by my FIRST name. I do not have to give my last, for her to look up on her PC.


The extra miles and the 1/2 day reduction at home, was of my own choosing.

What mid roofs? I see KW T-600 Aerocab Aerodyne highrise condo's and KW T-2000 75 inch hirise condo's.Aren't they DIAMOND V.I.T. interiors? If the big Boss said that to me,I would leave too.

yes for the most they are a good company, but dont lik getting paid every 2 weeks, dont like that when you fini your load in a city you get placed on a board and you can call in to see how many drivers are in front of you in that city to get dispatched, i called and i get ( you are number 5 in line for your city) so you have to wait tell they get dispatched before you do, and I amd a solo female driver i do not like being forced to unload a trailer, I was with them 7 mths and they gave me a load that said i had to unload and no lumpers would be paid, ok yes i signed the application that this may happen, but no way i do not touch frieght and if i want to get extra money and unlaod fine but dont force me to, so i refused the load and so i was in default of company policy,,, so bye i went

Yea I would like to know what company pays you $.59 a mile (if that is how you are paid) and runs you 612 miles a day with 2.5 days off a week.
