I drove for for a owner operator for 6mo that used ch robbinson. It is true loads are mostly heavy, the people working for them are rude and dont care about drivers except I person I delt with in there Dallas Tx office. Would not recomend them.

you do not deal with CH anymore then?

no...the only good thing about them is they do pay quickly....as soon as they get the paper work your check is on the way...but u dont get paid well for their freight and most loads are heavy

how are rates from CH right now? are they still pushing down on you guys pretty hard?

i dont run their freight anymore...when i was doing it from jan to july of last year was getting about $1.25....hope thats ok to post on here...

I'm not an O/O, but my company gets a fair amount of CH loads. Yes they have usually been heavy, and yes I have waited over 2 hours most of the time to get loaded, but the unloading side is usually pretty decent, and the folks have been fairly pleasant. I wouldn't say they're golden loads, but definitely could be worse.

I'm a company driver, but I always have to talk to the brokers myself. Have not talked to anyone at CH that had a clue what they were doing. Case in point: had to go pick up a load of pipe, asked the CH broker if they wanted pyramid or stripped. had no idea. asked what size pipe. again, no idea. asked if there was a minimum footage i needed to get. answer: yes! a full 48 feet! ( for you non-flatbedders, usually around 4000 ft of 4.5" pipe per load).

I can remember getting stuck in Buffalo, NY last year with no freight coming out. The company I was working for was desperate to get me loaded (pretty much just to get me off the phone, haha!), so they got a C.H.Robinson load for me out of some small town up north. Dispatch gave me the heads up as to where they found this load, so I was warned. Got to the shipper, some recycling yard, and was told that the shipper needed to be added to the company's insurance policy before I could get loaded. Sounded fishy, so I asked for a copy of the required paperwork, went out the the truck, and called my dispatcher. She hooked me up to the insurance dept., and I read this paper word for word to the lady there. They gave me a fax number, and asked for a copy of the paperwork. Shipper let me use his fax machine, and told me that C.H. Robinson was aware of this restriction. End of story? Company decided the load wasn't worth the risk, and deadheaded me into a better freight lane instead. And I HATE deadhead. I get paid, but the truck don't feel right without at least 30,000lbs in the box, know what I mean?

Got to love those CH loads! Had one that was supposed to be 45,000 of casters that ended picking up at a scrap yard. Hilo driver and another worker head into the trailer with a large cardboard box and a few minutes later the hilo comes out with the box. I was busy doing paper work so it didnt register. Goes in a 2nd time and same thing, comes out with the box he went in with. Decided to take a look in the trailer only to find that they are dumping brass shavings from a lathe on my floor. We hauled alot of food and kept the trailers food grade and that put the trailer out of service for our regular runs. Took about a month to get all the shavings worked and washed out of the floor. Best part was, when i got to the foundry, they refused it for to high a metal content and had to waste half a day at some other scrap yard getting rid of the stuff. CH reps offers to pay for 1 whole wash out!
