YRC is the parent company of all three but they still operate separately here. You go to a shipper and you see all three showing up to make pickups/deliveries. And it's not because one truck can't get all the freight. All three may each pick up one or two pallets. And they aren't under one YRC logo either. They are all still under their old logos with their different paint schemes.

Retirement, 401 k match 3 percent after jan 01 2012, better benefits(cost) and better run company that will be around for the long haul, Don't go con-way there are a terrible company to work for just ask the drivers at the Joliet terminal. The place is a joke go find a better job, if you got a chance at fed ex you better go there. The best so far as pay to scale ratio as in years to scale and all around treatment of drivers is better. Con -way dont pay you anything 18.27 in the midwest to start and fed ex is 20.30 and raises over 3 years to 24.08 but going up every year. conway is terrible 23.55 after 5 years and no pay raises going on 3 years. 42 cents for line haul as fed ex 48 cents Go fed ex stay far away from con way as possible. If any con-way driver tells a different story there just looking for you to be as miserable as they are, They can't get a better job they like being abused and under paid. I didn't mention a 52 million dollar damaged freight claims and loss of customers or a system wide blow out hoping yellow went under dibockle by the top dogs. The place sucks go somewhere else or beware I told you so.

Wow that's pretty strong words about Conway, I mean I worked for them for almost a year and it. Depends on the terminal ur at but as far as pay. Yeah fedex does pay more but Conway is still a good company to work for but it's all about seniority.

Well, I'd have to say your name undoubtedly fits as you were most likely rejected by XJO and hence all the bitterness. Pay tops out in five years? No, four years here. No raises in that time? Try yearly step increases until you top out in four. Drivers can't find another job and want you to be as miserable as we are? Try I could easily go anywhere I want as I have ALL endorsements on my license and absolutely no mars on it from tickets etc. and quite frankly it looks like you were probably responsible for your own misery. And what the heck is a dibockle? Would that be a debacle? Freight claims are at about 39 million currently for this year. What are they at Fedex? And of course that is higher than we want them. But that isn't the companies fault.... it is the fault of employees who don't pay attention to what they are doing. I guess Fedex doesn't have damaged freight or claims? Expected Yellow to go under? Yeah, didn't you? Most people who were watching what was happening with them was expecting it as they were definitely on that path. Good for them that they were able to stave off that scenario. Try to remember that YOU are responsible for your own happiness..... not anyone else. Quit blaming and take ownership.

XJO drivers did just take a hit - basically they were such a busy terminal they took away some of their territory..

It does take 5 years to top out at X terminals except the I95 ones -takes 3 there..

XJO reject- I work in the chicago land region and talk to the XJO drivers every day. They have about 1.2 million pounds of freight a day at a terminal thats about 30 doors. It will ease up soon when the changes of territory take place to even out the freight. The drivers that are moving with the freight are getting their choice of 3 terminals to go to. Not a bad deal. Yea its busy but still a good job. As for FedEx- I know a couple guys that went to FedEx freight running linehaul. They are running real short runs which seems to be the norm in Chicago region, and barely getting 40 hours a week. There are issues at every company in every business. Just matters what you are willing to accept and how much you think is fair for you to accept it.

1.2 million pounds is definitely a lot of freight for a terminal that size. That last line in your post is one that I have always believed. Working somewhere is an agreement between you and your employer. If it's not to your liking find something somewhere that is a better fit. What I take exception to is the " it didn't work out for me so it's not good for anyone and if anyone says different they are just lying" attitude. And there are always ups and downs, good and bad, with all companies and employees as well.

And Jake, in our recent survey that is one thing that I pointed out I didn't like. It shouldn't take that long to top out. You are either doing the job or you aren't. And if you are doing the job you should get what the job pays. I think that by making it take so long to top out they actually make it hard for a driver to hang in there financially while they try to get there. Many times a driver is starved out and has to go elsewhere to make enough money because they simply can't wait that long.
