Con way Freight LTL in Tampa, FL
hello, anybody from con way freight in Tampa ( brandon area ) can anyone tell me how is work down there, i saw in the web site they are looking for drivers..paying hourly $18. plus overtime . 12 to 14 hr daily...
but i heard drivers dont make enough money there..not even making over times , is that right..?...
Im from Miami, i will start with con way OTR first week on june....but i want to do 6 month or may be a year OTR and then get a transfer to Con way freigh in Tampa...i like the area plus few family live in brandon. or should i stay in Miami with con way freight ....?
i know i will start from the bottom... but i just want to know how is the movement over there...
thanks for those who can give me some info.....Thank

Small terminal....Miami seems much bigger...so prob more work
Orlando is even bigger... You need 1 yr to transfer from TL to Freight
But I have heard of TL drivers ...applying while working TL and getting hired out right...
Hope it helps ..I'm sure the regulars jakebrake or Centuryclass will chime in
I'm a TL driver FYI ...just let u know what I am aware of..

Not too many freight guys post on the boards.
Not sure of the service center class in Tampa, but Miami might be a heavy freight area.
I think its overtime after 50 hrs for the southern region. If they can help it, you wont get O/T but if its a busy time they cant control that, they just want to move the freight.
Like we've said before you can go T/L if you want to, but thats a year wasted. And a year longer it will take to eventually land a bid.
Find the number for the conway freight in Tampa, and just ask what is the service center class. Your best bet is going to a class 1 0r 2 with FAC operations. Smaller centers you will be hurting for work
