Can anyone tell me what the start pay is for Local P&D and Line haul Class A driver at Con-way,Yellow,Roadway?
I recently moved to Phoenix,AZ and got some job offers from these 3 companies but I need some help and feedback from my fellow trucker brothers and sisters.

Thanks

Maverick 81,
Thanks for the post. Can you tell me anything about Columbus Ohio. When I looked up our area of Dayton thats what came up.
I understand the training will most likely be in MO. but do the have a distribution center in Columbus for the dock work.
Does anyone out there know if they are willing to hire past Emery Worldwide employees. there was a lot of changing of hands and at some point they owned us then sold to CNF and then UPS took us over and shut us down and relocated. Just need to find a good job out there.

I'd recommend you head to the nearest Service Center. Ask for the manager if it's a small center; larger centers, ask for the local dispatcher.

Explain what you're looking for.

Be polite and courteous - if they're busy, hang back, watch and listen! You'll learn a ton by listening to the interaction between the dispatch team and the drivers. Lots of the center's dispatch areas have vending machines - grab a soda and observe.

Keep us posted on your search!

If you can get into ROADWAY OR YELLOW DO IT (union job) starting pay depends on the contract. At both you may start off lest than conway but will surpass that when you get to full rate in 2 yrs plus great bennies. Best of luck

ok rookie, better look at a companies performance before you reccommend them. first look at their stock performance. if it looks like a steady decline, that should tell you something. i'll leave it at that. if your looking at a union p&d outfit, ABF is where you wanna get your feet in at.

He gave 3 choices and in my area the two I gave are preferred over conway. Yes, ABF would be the way to go but he didn't give them as a choice. I've been approved by the TM at ABF just waiting to here from Arkansas. Only problem in my area is Layoff. Hard to play that game when you own a house.

Thats what I did with ABF to get approved by the TM. Now I'm just waiting for Arkansas. I'm currently working for a redemption/recycling pick up company. I like it,its physical. Stale beer & soda makes you stink all day. Good pay $850 wk with weekends off.

Does anyone know what Con-way Truckload pays to drivers with 4-5 years experience? Their site lists .36 per mile for 1 years experience with quarterly safety bonuses of .04 and an additional .05 in 11 NE States. Again, nothing is said what they pay more experienced drivers.
