I Just completed Orientation today. They told us 1 to 3 weeks for a truck and teams get priority. Which I am part of a team. The orientation was good and at this time I fill like I have made the right decision. The Problem with the trucks are that Caterpillar stopped making the engines for the trucks they ordered so there is a back order for the trucks.

daved1967, You must be part of a team. Hope the solo truck wait is better than the estimated wait. Feeling a little envy . Good luck to you and be safe.

I got the word from Christine today that I start CDL school in Drumright Ok. 4-15. So i am happy there and I will get 4 1/2 weeks of school there then 1 week of orientation in Joplin, then finishing for 7500 miles( she said 2 to 3 weeks) then in my truck to solo.So far so good. Get my packet in the mail by Monday. She also admitted they have been slow in getting people in trucks but it should be good by the time I get ready 1 or 2 days to get my truck after all the training. Hope I see ya,ll out there.

Con-Way uses the boot camp to assess and further train guys that went to different schools, but they know the exact curriculum at Crowder and trust those guys to train the students correctly. They said they are amazed that some of the people that show up for boot camp have no concept of driving a big truck; apparently, there are a lot of schools out there that do the bare minimum to get people their CDLs and that's it.
I forgot to add- I believe boot campers and Crowder attendees also get to try out the skid pad. I missed out, as our class was so huge they couldn't work it in to the schedule. Too bad, it looked like a lot of fun.
I talked to Christine today and asked her if " I went to Central Tech. in Drumright ( which is the school they are assigning me to) would I have to go thru boot camp at Crowder?" And she told me No.Don't know if that answers any questions but it is info.

Was just wondering - what type of truck did you end up getting to team in..? With the large wait on trucks I am guessing that one does not get to choose..?
