Laredo, tx yard/dispatchers

Hey everyone. Just wondering if any other drivers are having issues with Laredo, TX dispatchers like being cheated out of miles, making OTR drivers pick-up/deliver local freight, etc.???? My hubby had been stuck in Laredo, TX since Thursday night after running around Illinois like a chicken without a head. He finally got fed up and refused a local pick-up and delivery. The dispatcher got upset wth him hence this dispatcher gave loads with long runs to other drivers. He also hilited himself to go home so he can take his Hazmat test here in CA. Well, now they have him relaying a load that is going to CA and drop it in El Paso, TX then take another load and head home to CA. So in other words, they are doing this to take him off the board (he's been #1 on the board for 2 days) so that they don't have to pay him $60 a day to sit there and wait for a run to CA instead they are paying him $20 to run 600 miles which is cheaper than him sitting there getting paid. This is the only yard that I hate!! It always happens everytime he gets sent to Laredo, TX .

Can't make any suggestions for the weekends. But he can make some good money on weekdays, by going in and asking for locals first thing in the mornings. Have him express a desire to run a few of the drop and hooks....easy money. And he maintains his place on the board.

Yup Laredo was a pain in the ### when I worked for them. And it would seem they still are.

I assume the $20 is a typo, and you meant $200.

Thanks. I'll be sure to tell him that. He doesn't mind it during the week because it adds up but it's the weekends that suck.

they fired pablo for giving loads to his mexican buddies and suspended a few also for the same thing.
but it has not changed down there. same thing different day and now lancaster is getting just as bad.
if you dont pay a dispatcher some green you dont get good loads. I watch 5 guys go into his office one day gave him money and got there loads. This is not right.

Yeah, I don't go to Laredo that often which is just fine with me.

They have trailer inspection, but I swear half the time I picked up a trailer that came over the border it either has missing or burned out lights, and no glad hand seals. So...what does that tell you?

Especially since they started making all the OTR guys take the trailers to the brokers. I have no problem with this until I get a real tight dispatch down there on Saturday morning, and the broker isn't around until Monday; sometimes you can talk your way into dropping it, other times not... Then 90% of the time the broker speaks no English at all and starts yelling in Spanish and waving their hands as if that's going to make me understand where they want this freakin thing.

Never really had a problem with getting decent loads out though.

I would love to see how this comment is backed up. I really doubt there are payoffs of loads out of Dallas. What you be paying for, a 500 mile load out of Nestle waters?

Should have been around 10-15 years ago, Land in Laredo to find 200+ trucks on the board. As far as delv'g local loads, all the local loads are loads OTR drivers brought in to the yard and dropped, with 5 local drivers, not all the loads will get delv'd by themselfs. What would you want to get down there on a Fri evening and be told you had to wait to monday and delv your load, or drop you load and get another one out, and maybe have to delv a load or pick up one on the way back the yard occasionaly?

I wonder if the load that Laredo gave him had a delv appt? maybe it didn't and so they relay the load in El Paso and then give him a different load, that does have a delv appt. If he sat on the board #1 as you say, then he already qualifed for layover

Well, he was told by this particular dispatcher that he wasn't getting layover pay. My hubby had to call his dispatcher that following Monday morning to get his layover pay.

Maybe they are having your husband relay the load because they can see that he can't get in there on time and stay legal with regard to the hours of service regulations.
