They also have a $25.00 dollar bounty IF you have to get it fixed after the last guy forgot the macro. You only get it if your the very next driver after the last guy didn't send in the macro.
I don't care how you want to sugar coat it, that is raping the drivers.
Check with your State's Department of Labor. All these "deductions" are illegal. I have the benefit of living in a State where it is easy to file a complaint on-line and the State enforces the laws. Some States aren't so easy, although they have good labor laws they have no legislation for enforcement, such as Louisiana; where the employee is forced to file civil action against the employer to enforce labor laws. If you live in State where YOU have to force compliance, don't be afraid to do so. Many employers continuously violate labor laws because they know there is little chance their employees will file a complaint.

Poor driving habit and failure to follow company procedures forced them to do this as an incentive to get some responsibility out of the drivers. I say "tough ####", either put up with it or move on to the next company. When you own your own trucking company then you can run things the way you see fit.
While YOU personally might not have been screwing up obviously others have been. Its always been mob rule and the good guys get screwed with the bad boys.

I can understand their frustration with irresponsible loser employees, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with incentives to get these clowns to do it their way. Lots of companies have incentives, for both positive and negative actions.

Its not against the law if the company policies are stated and spelled out in the employee hand book. And yeah the company can change their policies when they want to.

I agree with "e l" that this sucks, but I also understand why the company is doing it.

Right on, man! And props to you for promoting rolling rescue. That's awesome.

I've been with Covenant for a year now. They do not claim to be a Christian Company, they just try to use Christian values, but that is only as strong as the weakest link. And actually, if you don't do your job you shouldn't get a pay check. That includes getting the BOL to the Co for the Co to get paid, returning tires to the many listed drop spots so that they can get a financial break on costs. Yes, I pay $4 a week for EZpass, plus but any tolls (OH, WY, KS) that I drop by Monday, I get paid on Thursday. We are told over and over again to get advances during normal business hours, just like most Companies. In addition if you need advances for tolls, they do that so that you have no expenses, but again, since you got your route during normal business hours, you should plan ahead, at least I do and haven't ran into any problems like that. When Lumper money is needed before days comes in or on week-ends, I get it with no problems either.
I guess that guy just thinks he needs to drive his truck from A to B and get paid. NOWAY, their are more responsibilities to driving truck including checking the oil. because the JOBS NOT DONE TIL' THE PAPER WORK IS DONE.

Let me get this straight..

You pay 4 dollars a week, driving their truck, driving their trailer, delivering the load that they booked, just so you can use their EZpass or whatever? WTF?

If you were a owner operator, then sure, I can see paying the tolls, and whatever other BS there is. But as a company driver, they cannot legally charge you to use their EZpass system, when using the system itselfs saves them money, among other reasons.

I wont work for any company spouting out any religious dogma propaganda. If I want that, I can turn on my CB radio and listen to it there. No thanks.

Covenant is also one of the companies that signed the speed limiter petition . A couple of weeks back I left Little Rock headed for Memphis at 3 a.m. . I set my cruise at the 65 m.p.h. speed limit and was only passed by 3 trucks . Two of them were trucks owned by companies that had cosigned the speed limiter petition -Covenant and Jet Express . ATA companies were very disappointed when Bush didn't get his guest worker bill passed .
