How about .25 a mile while in training, then .28 a mile afterwards as a solo to begin with? Teams splitting .42 a mile to start. That sound better?

Don't expect her to remember you in 6 months, unless she is a close friend of yours. Odds are, if she is a recruitor, she won't be there in 6 months.

I don't know what you call minor consumption....But rest assured, if it has ANYTHING to do with drugs or a DUI, you were just handed a line of BS, hoping you would find someone else to work for within that peiod.

I don't know...clue me in so I can start doing some better research, instead of research I just THOUGHT was good.

When you play with the big boys, you have to play by THEIR rules.

Rule # 101 We own you, you will do as you're told and like it. Or we'll simply put something on your DAC, or starve you out with NO miles.

This forum is one of the best places to do your research. Just click on the Company DAC links...and read to your hearts content.

I know I sound like a complete A hole. But I'm not a recruitor, so I'm not going to pump sunshine up yer ###.

There are some VERY good companies out here, that are willing to treat you like professionals, and pay you like a professional.

Tell me what you feel a team should be making non-split, and how many miles we should be getting, right out of school.

I just looked at there pay scales again, and after even 5 years, I would only be getting like 21 cents per mile as an individual of the team.

????
I work for maverick, but you are in FL and doubt if they would hire you. We get home on weekends and they only hire in areas where they can get us home. I am not a team driver, but know that most that do it to make good money is a husband/wife team. That way the pay is not split. Covenant is not known for decent miles or hometime. You would be better off going solo in my opinion to make more money. I don't know what most teams are running for a lot of outfits, but as a solo I like 3000 miles a week. Our avg is 2400-2800 for most drivers.

Maverick

Isn't Maverick a flatbed company? Is that why they pay more? In comparing Covenant's pay scale to that of Schneider's for a school grad, they are basically the same. However, with Schneider, you have to sign an 18 month contract with them in order to get your school paid for. 18 months is an extremely long time to be tied to one company. Covenant also pays an additional $125 a month for tuition reimbursement and a $2500 retention bonus after six months, along with a safety bonus and additional cents per mile for hazmat endorsements. All in all, I would have to say that their pay is in keeping with the standard for student drivers with no experience. Question would be, which company will be able to give you the miles? Again, it all boils down to finding a starter company who will take student graduates, hire from your area, allow pets, and be willing to accept your alcohol violation. It would really be nice to hear from a TEAM that drives for Covenant to get their opinion. Most of the complaints that I have heard about Covenant have come from Solo drivers. Maybe teams are given the miles?

Well I have a DUI thats over 5 years, and I have a minor consumption (caught drinking before i was 21) that is 6 months short of 5 years. CFI said all alcohol related junk must be 5 years or older. So I was just going to wait it out with Covenant.

And I was also noticing that almost all complaints come from solo drivers when it comes to Covenant. Thing is, they ARE a team driven company. They actually force you to do team the first six months, and then if you decide you want solo, they will let you do it then. They really push for team. So maybe that is what it is?

And when I did search for pay differences, compared to Schneider as well, the are a mere penny off. but when you add the hazmat bonus of 1 cent just for having it, paid on all miles the truck goes, you seem to come out on top. Add the bonuses in, and you are seemingly winning on that end.

I don't know, I don't get it. I think it is the solo's who get rear ended because they want teams mainly. But I am probably going there for 6 months until I can go to CFI most likely at that time.

I am going to keep researching of course, to see if I can find anything better. But please, keep the posts coming, especially if you are a team driver with Covenant...I really would like to hear from you!

Thanks again everyone!

When you can FORCE a team to work cheaper than the average solo driver...you **** right they are team oriented. NORMAL rookie teams split .42 or more

Looks good on paper, taste better than plastic too. When you have to eat it. Bonuses are made to be taken from the driver. The hazmat you will keep, but for how long? The old number was .05 per mile. Seems like they don't think much of your endorcement now days.

But you aren't interested in team drivers that no longer drive for them??? Such as husband and wife teams that went solo, because THEY couldn't make enough money as a team??? Yes, it really happened.

Good Luck, best wishes. But, I think this is a mistake you will regret in the long run.

You will not get payed or brother miles. I drove for Covenant in 05 as team. And there is no week end dispatch.

Covenant

I just remembered this story...Several years ago I was training a guy from Atlanta for...well, a company mentioned on here out of Cookeville, TN not just ripping off drivers, but basically sodomizing them (especially when the 1099 came in!)...

Anyhow, he used to work for Covenant and knew a guy who had enough, parked his truck, crapped on the floor of the sleeper, left it running and turned the heat on full blast in the middle of summer. That story alone told me to stay far, far away from Covenant.

What is their hiring area?

Does anyone know if they hire in Denver. I know they don't have a terminal here...but?

Thanks

coveant sucks

where do i begin? I drive for covenant on a team we split pay 17 per mile each. my biggest complaint is getting home. I dropped my co driver and still had to drive solo to get home almost a week later. they pay u 27 per mile then. And yet the require 6 months with a codriver before going solo yet they keep team drivers out by themselves for long periods at a time.
