Are they the best co. I've every drove for? No. They need more dispatchers cause right now they are waaaayy understaffed. They have like 1 dispatcher for every 50 or so drivers. But I run the loads I'm given, even if I dont want to run them, I get my miles in and I'm doing pretty good. I do have crappy weeks, but thats with every company. Everyone has a bad week. But your experience with a company is what you make of it. I know some drivers here that dont get squat for miles. I know a team that often runs less miles than I do per week (no they arent happy), but I get my miles and my $$$ so I cant really complain.
yeah, we have to be happy with what we get here, i am given a drop n hook, and a preplan after, but quess what? no mt trs here, or nearby and they cannot figure out what to do.........
so here i sit from 1pm and it's now 4pm and no answer, no company support.
i have my reasons for staying here now, but soon the day will come for us to depart to a different hopefully better field..........
like i have said before, if you can belly upto the buffet table and cram yourself full of their ####, this is the place for you to be

Well lets see here..I work for Covenant now and I have not been paid for a load I hauled over a year ago. I keep all my trip sheets and showed them and did everything they told me I need to do...and I still have not been paid for that trip.

I have been with Covenant for over a year now and it will not make 2 years. For a few months now I have been thinking about leaving Covenant for various reasons. One is pay. I have been with them for almost 2 years and I am only making .29cpm.
Now just a week ago Covenant announced that it is mandatory that everyone take the per diem, they took away local haul pay, plus bonuses are being taken away and now on top of a $500 pet deposit, they will now charge a $250 annual fee for people with pets. It seems to me when a company takes away opportunites for a driver make money, charges the driver more money, and or takes money away from people that they are not going to be in business very much longer and they are grasping at straws.
I have had enough of Covenant...If you are looking to Covenant for employment. I would say...do yourself a big favor and go somewhere else. I'm at my limit of BS.

here's the scoop on Covenant, don't sneeze, they will fine you $500.
A friend dropped her loaded trailer, went to hook and empty and couldn't get traction on ice. The put things under the tires, used the splitters and everything she could think of. Then she called Covenant, they send a wrecker that pushed her back under the empty and charged $249. Well Covenant charged her $500 and with an incident. Charged me $500 for my 4 lb chihuahua in July. They want $250 more on the 1st of Feb. They are sinking and using their drivers to try and stay afloat.

Orientation

I worked for Covenant back in 2003-2004. I should have known something was out of the ordinary from the first day of orientation when both males and females were required to give their urine samples in the ladies room which had 3 stalls, I was in the middle with 2 people on either side of opposite gender. Made it hard to get the sample with no privacy! I lived in Fla at that time and they teamed me up with a driver from St Louis, MO of the opposite gender. Needless to say, I didn't get home for 6 weeks, but the other driver got home every 3 weeks. I had to sit in the truck during an ice storm while other driver was at home. They didn't want the truck idled either. Not much fun. We split 27 cpm and averaged 1500 miles per week total. Nearly starved. After 2 months, asked for another team driver, was teamed with a driver from Fla, but we lived opposites end of the state, so not much better. Lasted 2 weeks, then they teamed me with another driver from that same area. Same problem. After 2 weeks again, I was teamed with a driver of same gender, and we stook it out for about 6 weeks, starving, sitting 3 to 5 days at a time waiting on a load after a 1500 miles run. I finally said I had to get off the truck. I ended up filing bandruptcy from this venture. My last codriver stuck it out for 2 years for the experience and then went on to the better company I had gone to work for (JBH). I am no longer with JBH, was there for +3 years, though I didn't want to driver anymore, and now I tried to go back, but if you are not IC or LO, will not hire OTR drivers. Only a few dedicated accounts and they are trying to talk current OTR drivers into leasing. Now I'm thinking of trying back with Covenant just to get the 6 months experience so I can go to Con-Way. Con-Way said I needed 6 months experience within the last year to hire me, so I'm thinking of starting over again. Got to get a job somewhere. My problem now is I'm much older, and if their physical at Covenant requires the heavy lifting and torture chamber workout that JBH and Schneider requires, I may not be able to do that either. Any advice on the Covenant physical requirements from anyone?

What company? Covenant was paying me up to 49cpm on short runs with hazmat as a 5 year driver. This last pay cut put me to 31 1/2 cpm as a solo. Cut my pay around 9k a year. Yes, I have another job but don't start until the end of the month.

Thanks again everyone!

Let me put it to you this way: My wife and I started team-driving for Covenant in May of '07, then quit in July of that same year. Then we decided to give them another chance and rehired with them in February '08, only to quit again in July '08. What does that tell you? I mean, to put it another way, it would probably take me the next 6 months you are talking about until your alcohol thing comes off or whatever, for me to tell you the holy hell we went through with them. Be smart, take my advice, and RUN, don't walk, away from Covenant. Try Interstate Distributor out of Tacoma, WA. We really liked them, and would definitely consider going back to them.

I drove team with my uncle back in 2001 and we stayed busy with the air freight. But he had already been with company for over 5 years also that helped. We had a great dispatcher Tim. We stayed very busy avg 6500 miles a week. My uncle started getting ill so I went solo lasted about month more and quit! The new dispatcher I got was awful. I sat all the time. They had me swap loads with teams that had run miles off and had me be the sitting duck at the end ..and beginning. This pays pennies... Not sure about them now. My husband wants to drive now to so Thinkin about them again, FFE, Crete, Crst, Its a matter of getting him qualified since there all being very very picky these days!

Covenant left an accident on my DAC that never happened. Can those companies that advertise fixing DAC's actually clean it up?
