My husband and I work for Covenant now. Been with them for 9 months. It was pretty rough in the beginning...sat A LOT. Things have slowly gotten better, though. Some weeks are definitely better than others, but from what I'm hearing from drivers out here from all companies, it's the same everywhere. Freight is just slow right now.

We have a pretty good dispatcher. Have had a few issues with our pay, but they have always fix it....you just need to bring it to their attention. We got our $5000.00 sign-on bonus, but I hear they've discontinued it...so not sure how that will work out for new employees.

Before we delivered our load yesterday, we had 2 preplans waiting for us...so it's not horrible. I'm finding a big part is your attitude. We have had to decide that this is an investment in our future. Get our experience and then see what happens. Right now isn't the best time to be looking to change anyways, with the economy and all.

The best thing about this company is the safety policy. You don't chain and you can shut down whenever YOU feel it's not safe...they don't give you any grief at all. It sure made our first winter out on the road a lot less stressful...that's for sure.

Good luck to you in whatever you decide.

Hey CIFTeam....I got your message a while ago and I'm so very sorry I didn't get back to you. Was going thru a real rough time then and wasn't really in touch with anyone. Long story so I won't bore you.

What did you and your hubby decide to do? Are we coworkers?? Let me know how/what you're doing? I'd love to catch up! Hope all is well you with.

No, me and hubby gave up the search and found regular old jobs working in retail. Very disappointing after all we went through, but at this point, we are just happy to have a job. I just have to keep telling myself that everything happens for a reason, and it just wasn't meant to be for us. I have to live out my truckin dreams through other peoples blogs

I never thought the economy would get this bad, it really is unbelievable. I'm so happy that you and your hubby were able to work through all the bs and hang in there! Hopefully this economy will pick up soon and everyone's lives will improve. Stay positive!

I hope your good fortune continues...

But I have to see the glass as half empty on this one. Your a new hire, your paid less than others with more experience, and, the dispatchers are seeing how far they can push you, befor you push back.

If you ran 5000 a week $700 a week before taxes. I can take home after everything is out 800-1200 a week and be home on weekends and not have to live with anyone in a shoe box. A brand new driver with us can make $980 a week before taxes with weekends home based on 2800 miles.
that is slave labor!!!!!!!! Unreal some guys work that cheap
