Is it possible to become, and remain a company solo driver with CREngland, or like most training companies you eventually have to team one way or another?

From the previous students I had some of them became company drivers after their phase 2 upgrade.

Most of them had to company team drive with a random person for a couple of months but eventually got a solo position. One of my students got into the intermodal division and makes about a grand a week and is home every night. Another one got into the green line fleet and is home every Thursday and Friday.

You may be waiting in SLC a couple of weeks for a company team driver position to open, that's why some guys become L/O because they get tired of waiting.

Last time I checked they still did. England's terminal in Burns Harbor actually has a fleet of daycab trucks set aside for Illinois students to use, since Illinois requires CDL students to learn off a 10-speed transmission.

    To answer the OP:

Yes, it is possible to become a solo company driver. You aren't forced to train and you aren't forced to team. I for one do not train, even though I'm a phase I trainer. I don't have the patience to train. I don't team with people I don't know either. It's a trust issue for me.

It depends. CRE isn't much different from any other mainstream OTR carrier. It's all what you make of it. If you go into orientation expecting to get screwed by the company, you're going to get screwed. If you go into orientation expecting to learn and have a good time in the process, you're going to learn and have a good time.
