I went to Burns Harbor back in December for a refresher. Be prepared to be up early in the morning, and training 7 days a week regardless of holidays (we were out in the backing range on Christmas Day playing demolition derby with cones).

The quality of training ain't bad, depending on your experience level. If you know what you're doing, the instructors will tend to leave you alone. If the instructors like you enough, they will allow you to continue practicing the maneuvers while they go on break, provided there is another student with you. If you appear to struggle with particular maneuvers, the instructors will help you.

While you're taking the refresher, you'll be at the Travel Inn. The Travel Inn ain't bad as there is a Denny's within walking distance. Once you finish the refresher, you'll move to the Hometowne Lodge.

CRE has made some changes to their Phase I and Phase II programs since I went through them. But here's a breakdown based on my experience:

~ The refresher lasted for 2 weeks.

~ Phase I training usually lasts for a month, but my trainer kicked me out after 1 and 1/2 weeks. LOL

~ Phase II training depends on whether or not you want to lease. When I went through Phase II, it was 2 months if you wanted to be a company driver or 10 days if you wanted to lease. I've been told that got knocked down to 1 month for a company driver and lease operators can bypass Phase II all together.

I leased a truck on a 6 month demo, so all together my Phase I and Phase II training lasted 3 weeks. Now I'm a company driver.

Oh, I forgot to add: welcome to the jungle!
