Your best option would be to call a recruiter and ask them.

Recruiters will not answer medical questions. They will tell you it's up to the doctor, when you get your medical at school.

I expect one of two scenarios. You will be told no right up front. Or, you will be told ok, get there, then sent home the second or third day, after you have signed a paper saying you owe them for orientation.

Your best bet would be to contact a medical office and get the criteria for the medication allowed for CDL occupations. I can tell you for certain that if there is any type of warning that says "May cause Drowsiness" or anything that may impair your ability to drive, then you can pretty well assume that you cannot drive commercially and be on that medication. If this is something that you really want to do, I would talk about whether or not other medication is available for your condition. Something that wouldn't impair your abilities. Good luck to you, and don't drive England.

U.S.D.O.T. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Part 382.213 subsection (a):

No driver shall report for duty or remain on duty requiring the performance of safety-sensitive functions when the driver uses any controlled substance, except when the use is pursuant to the instructions of a licensed medical practitioner who has advised the driver that the substance will not adversely affect the driver's ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle.

You can quote the regs all you want, but the one doing the hiring has the final say. If you are taking something that a doctor writes a note saying it is all right to drive with, but the carrier does not want a driver who takes said medication, you are out of luck.

When did i say they would or wouldnt hire? All i meant was to check if its legal first. And if it is, theres a good chance england will be ok with it.
