CRE School????
I have read where sometimes there are 75+ students in a training class in the beggining and then when it is time to test out there are as few as 15.Do most drop out at the start, are some sent home because of an innocent mistake(like left a document at home by mistake)are some sent home because their recruiter didn't tell them enough info before they came. I imagine some are sent home because of a bad attitude also

Just like any school, sometimes there are 100 people that show up, but they forgot either they actually do hair/urine testing, lied on an application, forgot an document, hidden something... or just found out that you actually have to do work...
there are many reasons why people drop out or get sent home...

I did the CRE school and worked for them for 5yrs....yea there was bout 50 students at the start of our class.....when we got out hard copy CD....over half grabbed there's and left for greener pastures with other companies. When I left in 2010 only 2 people out of my class were still employed with them. The class isn't hard but during the three week course some were pulled out of class due to not mentioning felonies or dui or multiple tickets. Some also forgot some paperwork but CRE helped them get those papers sent or faxed to them.

When I went through the CRE school in Sept of 2008 there were about 75 starting and at the end there was about 20 of us who actually got our CDL. Most people who got removed from the class lied on their application or intentionally left something out.
Me and one other guy from that graduating class are actually still with CRE. He runs a local day cab route on salary.

In my wifes cdl class they started with 60 and 27 finished.
In my refresher course we started with 20 and ended with 11. A couple of guys might just get delayed for paperwork issues. We kept losing people for different reasons.
Medical condition
unreported accident
local job
drug test
hair test
accident
green card
it was sad to see each leave

Also on the first day of class there is also a group of experienced drivers there for orientation, drug test and medical exams ... Once they get through that, they move on with the students who just got thier license that week to get there fuel cards.

Right now our class at CRE has a little over half the class having passes the permit tests. The ones that haven't get another chance at the DPS office and if they fail they can come back next week. They want to get you trained, even if its just to hire you and have you drive for 6 months.
If you go through with CRE READ THE BOOK. They will give you practice tests and while those give you a good idea about what may be on the test, they don't give you everything. I read the book front to back and passed all my tests first try. The ones who haven't read? They didn't pass.

Also, try to get on the flex program while still in school if they are still doing it. You'll go out with a local driver/instructor for four days and get paid for it.
The pay ain't all that great but the idea is to have your own personal trainer for four days while the other students have to share a trainer for an hour when they get to go out on practice road tests.

They canceled that program about 4 months ago. The guy that I went to school with was a flex trainer and he was kind of glad it was over. They only paid him an extra $125 a week to train on top of his local salary pay.
He said it was canceled because of that government grant England would get for training new people to start a new career. Also that is why they have that zero cost training now, they can't "double dip."
