Does CR England only run refrigerated trailers.? If so wouldnt the truck have to idle while in 10 hour rest period. I know nothing about trucking. Only that I think ? I would like to join the ranks of the professional trucker. Any help in setting me straight would be much appericated.

Fridges can be on 'all the time' (ice cream) or 'on/off' (cooled loads). You may have trouble falling asleep if you pull a fridge as a newbie. This is because the unit will come on several times during your sleep if it's in 'on/off'. Considering it's only a few feet away from your bed, its starting could wake you up every time. Just another reason I'd drive dry box, especially if I were just starting out.

Stay away from C.R. England Advertisement, by the way.

DO NOT LEASE DO NOT LEASE DO NOT LEASE DO NOT LEASE DO NOT LEASE
I went to CR England with 8 years experience knowing that I would have to run x number of miles to break even on my lease. I figured that I could safely and legaly run XXXX miles. I was tired of driving a worn out POS for another company (Andrus Transportation, St George Ut). During my 4 months as a lease operator I was often dispatched just enough mile to break even, and then given no load for 2-3 days. I would jump through hoops and get back to SLC/WVC and have a heart to heart with my dispatcher. Nothing would fix this problem. I turned in the truck and broke my vow of poverty. Now if I had been a company driver, I would have made a better income. There is a lot of animosity between management and the drivers, because too many lease drivers aren't getting enough miles to make a real worthwhile income. There are security guards you must check with before seeing your dispatcher. You must also empty your pockets and go through a metal detector to see your dispatcher. HMMM maybe the drivers are unhappy at CRE?
Some drivers would be content to break even and see a low income, as it appeared many of the new drivers may have been homeless before coming to CRE. I'm talking circus freak show/ Jerry Springer auditions here. If you are an experienced driver, you can do ok at CRE as a company driver, but don't lease unless there are big changes at CRE.

And those security Guards are armed with 45 caliber weapons.

May be to protect incompetent dandruff farmers (fleet managers) from unhappy drivers that are getting miles that could be run by a child on a tricycle. If the fleet managers would do their job instead of making excuses, they would need no protection.

It has been quite apparent for many years that the mega carriers have always had issues. But Security checkpoints and metal detectors prior to a face to face with your dispatcher? Are things that ****ed up at England?

    Geezuz, un****ingbelievable!

I have heard many nightmare stories about cre's lease program but what about company drivers? Is it possible to deal with them as a company driver or do they screw you there too? Just wondering. :biggrin_2552:
