Yes...CR England sucks!!!
First oiff let me say that the only reason I went to England was because they offered to put me through school with no credit check. My credit is bad and I had no choice.I went to school In East Chicago Indiana in January.I had no experience at that time....hell Id never even driven a manual transmission before!! Anyways, they rush you through the school at such a fast pace it was hard to retain anything. We started with a class of about 75,and maybe 25 of those made it to the drivind(Yard) phase...Though I do need to say that the classroom instructor Melvin was a great guy who did a fairly good job and kept things interesting.Back to the yard....Not too bad but no where near enough time behind the wheel on the road.In the 7 days in the yard I was on the road maybe 1 1/2 hours. The rest was in the yard learning to back.Plus my driving instructor actually feel asleep in the passengers seat several times while I or another student was driving!! So out of the 25 who made it too the yard, maybe 10 of us actually got our CDLs.Then the OTR training started......It was hell to say the least!! My first(Of 3) trainer was a kid with 6 months experience!!! AND it was his first winter to boot!! So after 3 trainers I upgraded to what they call CAT.I was a 2nd seat with a lease driver. That wasnt too bad.All in all I was out for 25 days with him and decided to make the biggest mistake of my life.I leased a truck!! I went for the 6 month demo and have regretted it since. My last paycay was for $4.And that is not an exageration!! Anyways I told my DM i Needed a few days off so I spent yesterday filling out apps on line and have a phone interview with US express tomorrow.
For anyone who thinks they want to drive for England.....go company. You might be able to make some money. But DO NOT LEASE!!!!! The only way to lease and make money is to have a student in your truck with you.And I wouldnt trust half of England students to drive my God sons tricycle!!

Yes,they revised the lease for us independants. But the first week is not free, its deferred meaning you pay an additional $40 a week rraising your weekly lease cost roughly $660.And all of this doessnt help if you dont get the miles. All the prime runs go to the team drivers. In the month I was solo...its all I could take....I averaged 3000 a week.

that is why they use the cat program so they can get the you to lease.
I would not go with them unless I did not have to do the cat portion.

I have a CDL already but it is three months old and I have not worked with it. I don't have a very impressive work history and I may have trouble getting in with another company. They tell me I need to do a refresher. It costs $500.00 bucks that comes from your paycheck. Plus I gotta pay a $50.00 non-refundable fee. So basically I'll be working for free for a while. When did you go home first after your training started and how long was the OTR training? Home much home time did/do you get? Do they have dedicated or local jobs? If so when do you qualify for that? If you have an emergency can they get you home? You say your last paycay was $4. What is a paycay or do you mean payday? I would agree that it is a no brainer to go company until you figure out the way things go. Any other england drivers want to warn me about potential dangers of england? Please feel free to do so as I would like to be well breifed before I get there. I'm leaving in about two weeks. How long do you think I should stay b4 looking for a new company?

Yes, but C. Our. England Ad had to be sued, after all. This makes them "ineligible to receive my driving services."
England struck out with me after about 2 weeks in Salt Lake. I saw their ads in the paper every bloomed day of the world and decided they sucked and never applied with them. Every day I log onto a site like this, I am reminded that I made the right choice when I avoided them early on (in like 1996).
Death before working for C.R. England.
