I know England treats the DM's as badly as the drivers. That excellent DM from western regional I once had also quit because he got busted down to weekend DM for leaving work early for a dentist appointment. He said he was telling his boss he really needed a day off to go since the pain was becoming really bad and kept getting denied a weekday off to go so he just left early one day and that is when he got demoted. Once that happened he put in his two week notice. In my opinion all the bad DM's never get fired from CRE it is just the good ones.

We had a guy like that at the Mira Loma school. He was an ex-LAPD detective (at least that is what they told us) and they said he could tell if we were lying to him about our past drug use or other criminal activity. I had to go in that other room with just me and him. I thought it was strange when he was holding my wrist. I got all nervous because I thought he was making a move on me. I thought I do not want to work for this company that bad!

Feel free to ask me any questions. Don't be embarrassed if you are currently employed by CRE!

I think CRE is run by a bunch of nurds who have lived a perfect life and think truck drivers are the low scale of humanity. My nephew talked to one before he went to work for another company, and the recruiter told him that he would make .25 CPM bring home around $500.00 per week and be gone for at least four weeks and also they had no health ins(Major) to offer. I told him that is B.S. and be patient. He got a job hauling dry bulk with a local company that put him through school, and he is home everyday with benefits. Pay is decent but it is a start, and better jobs await him.Dewey thanks for your posts. My nephew just read the posts and basically said whew, thanks uncle David for the advise. I gave him the advise by reading a lot of your past posts

Don't kid yourself. Mormons are smart people they're no dummies in that company even though it's pretty big. I recall that they almost went BK many years ago and were subsequently bailed out by the Mormon church. They have a symbiotic relationship there and it's paid off. Old man England was still driving when I was there and he had the only white tractor in the fleet at that time.
i still think their school is pretty good and as I recall we all had to go out with a trainer for a few weeks.
I got lucky as I worked with a decent guy who was clean at least. Others were not so lucky. Many students never got to this stage or they dropped out later. Then they paired us with another student driver which we lovingly called it the Dumb and Dumber program. Again I lucked out and got a good student to run with but dispatch made sure we got the worst crappiest loads they could come up with. It was a learning curve.
By and large it's a good start for a rookie but don't get carried away. Their lease program is abysmal not even worth a second look. I ended up going through about 5 DM in the 15 mths I was there. Most of them had no clue about miles and trucking. Never got consistent miles, so pay was poor. It's easy to move on from that but CRE is a big mill churning out drivers, but most will not make it. That's the way it is. I see some of the wing nuts now coming into our company as I haul chemicals and they just don't have the right mindset and attitude to succeed.
if I were to do it all again I would still go to their school but I would definitely go into driving chemical tankers. The pay for a company driver is far superior to most out there. You live and learn, plus you don't have to deal with lumpers. That was always a real pain to deal with.
    Good luck.
