    I have lots of experience but been out of a truck for 14 months now. Decided I really missed it and was willing to go with a starter company to get back into the industry. Last week i sent out a flood of apps. Don't you know CRE would be the first to get back to me(thankfully not the only). Sure we'll bring you on for a "refresher" course.

    There idea of a refresher course:

    10 day class.

    30 days phase 1(whatever that is) training

    30 days phase 2(again what?) training

    I only spent 8 days in truck school the first time around.

    I gather from your post you already know what they're like without hearing the same thing from us.So I would suggest crossing them off your list and look elsewhere.

    You do not need a starter company. I was out 13 years and got back in without a starter. Others have also. Where are you located?

    If you have 9 years of trucking experience definitely do not goto CRE. Just keep looking and something better will pop-up.

    There's many companies that offer refresher that will take you; probably a couple of dozen or more:

    Paschall Truck Lines
    National Carriers
    Swift Transportation
    Millis Transfer - regular CDL school that's about 2 weeks then about 30 days with a trainer.
    Schneider National
    Schneider Bulk
    Western Express

    to name a few.

    Heard back from western express already. They said they would bring me on under evaluation status - two weeks with a trainer. Not ideal but heck of a lot better than CRE. Put app in with Swiftral and NCI already too. Will see what monday brings. Talked to a recruiter at a former employer and she's gonna give my old division manager a call on monday. If he says okay then they will take me back w/o all the hoops which would be nice. Where ever I land I'll put in a solid year then reevaluate.
