Take your time and really use this site Swamprat for research and getting the real info on these companies. When I re-entered OTR after 10 yrs as an ops manager(walked away from headaches and way too much stress!!) I found a pretty decent company to run with. Based in mid-atlantic/east coast and they will consider hires from most states. I actually train the Northeast for them in a permanent role now. If it weren't for these threads I may have made a mistake and ended up with one of these people eater companies that pump out drivers to run a few months, tie them up in lease and cut them loose. Theres pros and cons with them all as all of us are brutally aware. It just wasnt right for me with how some people explained their company operations...
As it worked out my company's HQ and main terminal is 17miles from my house! Ironic! I solo'd for them and averaged right at 13000 mi per month at .35mi. .10 per mile for anything north of the MD/VA line including all PA and bonus if your willing to go into the burrows of NYC. I found a guy on here and sent him a private message after clicking his handle and he invited me to call. I did and he was real and honest. That went a long way in my opinion on his part. I train drivers and a bad fit between driver and carrier stinks and is painful!
