CR England - called me

I need some accurate advice please.
I moved from Chicago to Riverside Southern California and as far as the job situation, I'm miserable here. Maybe I got spoiled by all the available jobs in the Windy City, I NEVER had to worry about finding a job back home and the over populated issue in CA is just another wrench in the gears. What's hurting me at the moment is that I lack Class A experience, even though I have all my endorsements with the exception of passenger. I currently hold a (XT) an am current as of 2014 with a TSA hazmat. ...I hold a perfect driving record (0) violations. I've driven a 38' straight - dual tandem for over 8 years and a rear and front loader garbage truck for over 6 years.

CR England hired me without even meeting me in person. I'm feeling that the process was much too easy. I was offered a local driving position for Drop-and-hook, but I have to go though a 3 month probation period of trading, which I guess could be good learning experience. Yes?

Please be honest:
for someone who has almost no tractor tailor experience, Is this a good company to gain experience? My OTR friend says not to, he says keep trying for Schneider, and I've read some really negative posts here. Do you think they are lying to me with regard to getting a local drop and hook position after the probation period? When I asked the recruiter what happens after the three month over the road training probation period (with regard to driving local), he said, "all you have to do is tell us if you want to drive OTR or local and we'll get you going". My question is: Since when does a company let an employer dictate what they're going to do? Also, if I were to postpone the 10 day orientation to give myself more time to think about this, do you think they would accept my application at a later date?

 

Well, honestly, I'm more local kind of person I like being home. Back in Chicago, most the driving jobs were local because there was so much industry there.
The thing is, I would like to get into Hazmat driving for more money, and I have an opportunity down the road through a friend but I need the experience. My OTR friend keeps pressing me on the fact that I need to get with a company like Schneider and go for their Tanker division.

Well, they're saying I can drive local when I'm done with the 3 month training, but I was asking others here if CRE keeps to their word? And the training by the way entails me going over the road with a trainer for 3 months. I'd be gone for 3 weeks at a time, and then return home for a few days and then the trainer would pick me up again to go out another 3 weeks still the 3 month period is through. I don't know what it will be like being on the road with someone. They don't have bathrooms on their trucks , and I'm worried because my stomach gets kind of crazy sometimes when I eat. I have to go to the bathroom right away. so I'm always worried about bathrooms. Chicago was never a problem for that because there's places everywhere, but out west it's desert for hundreds of miles. CR has no bathrooms in their sleepers either.

Good point. Though I also found a local job hiring for cement mix trucks. I wonder if that would be a good local job. Though it's not going to give me the training. I don't want to go over the road, but I probably should get the experience. I really want to get into hazmat of some sort, being it a straight job or tractor trailer which would require some experience obviously. Usually 2 to 3 years experience for hazmat.
