The fact the question in the OP even needs to be asked is the proof in the pudding. I'm no million miler expert but I know 2+2=4 most of the time.

When I leased one back in 98 there was no pressure to go team. Made plenty of money solo. It was not "designed" for just team.

Maybe in 98 ... but the program is set up such that you can only clear about $800 solo, on a 3K week, Break even is around 1800 miles. Take a week off and you're screwed for the next 2 weeks.

Something must have changed. I was getting plenty of miles, was out at least 4 weeks, and generally timed my paperwork that when I did take time off in Phoenix where my kids were, I usually took a week and still made no less than $1500. I do recall one driver I repowered a load off of complaining that he was not getting but about 1500 miles a week but he also admitted that he had called safety on his DM because his DM asked him to run a hot load.

I always considered my break even at 2000 miles, and generally ran 3500+ miles.

Then again the way you talk Swift must have changed a lot too. I recall them as being a "driver mill" back in 90-91, they had 800 trucks in 90, and a year later it was like 1500. I had a lot of issues with their de centralized dispatch, and when I quit I was debreifed by Jerry Moise, that was a huge issue to me. They changed that a year or 2 later.

I ran team with my son ... Miles were never a problem ... it was the pay/expense ratio. $800 about all you'll pull solo.

As for Swift, my break even is around 900 miles. I clear that $1500 on 3K, after putting $.15 per mile in my maintenance account. I have complete access to the money in that account, at any time, for any reason. I don't even have to have an account if I don't want one.

As for planning, I can wait for the system to send me a preplan. I can query the system for up to 3 preplans, 24 hours before PTA - I can choose one of those or wait and query for another 3 an hour later. I can call the planner directly and see what they may have ... or the real gold, I can call a broker directly anytime and negotiate a load and a rate.

Sounds like a good deal. In any case I will be making a change in the coming year. At this moment I have my eyes elsewhere, from reading on here CR England does not look like the same company as when I left it.
