I am looking forward to hearing the answers on this one.

I recall a couple intermodal drivers on this forum out of Chicago claiming to do alright with cre.
Now if you got a year of clean driving check into some area tanker companies they'll hire and train you.
QC is a place to check out -
You can avg 1000 a week but its tought to get used to the rails. Some ppl deal with it to be home some can't it helps if you know ppl in the company show you the ropes. Make friends and they can explain how to get around in the rails.

I've never run Intermodal, but have heard too much to know that it wouldn't be for me whether it was with C.R. England, or any other company.
From what I understand, it's a lot of stagnant time waiting on the rail, or ship yard to get their act in line with the trucking side of the transportation industry. Seemingly, the rail and ship yard personnel are on their own HOS rules, along with their own schedules.
I have done Produce loads which seem to pay better than the ordinary load, but it too has a lot of stagnant time waiting on the crops to grow. Though it does seem to pay better, I don't like Produce loads either.
My particular style is to be running out on the open highway, rather than sitting and waiting - no matter what the pay may be.
But, each of us have our own style and just because my desire is to run the open highway, while your style may be to be close to home with frequent home time, albeit with a lot of stagnant waiting time - it may be absolutely perfect for you.
Nevertheless, my recommendation to you would be to consider your priorities first and foremost, then consider your particular driving style in order that you make a decision as to whether it would be a proper fit for you, your lifestyle, your priorities and your goals.Chinatown Thanks this. -
