    Glad to hear that Carrot Top. Anyone going to school currently or recent grad been told that if you go company you have to team for a year for before they will give you a solo truck? Seen that one too in another thread and was just posted a few weeks ago.

    I doubt it, If your running with a trainer now for 2 months. The skills you would learn with the trainer would be invaluable for future flease drivers. These new drivers would be able to see on a 60 day run a brief glimpse of what it means to run a truck.

    I still cant help to wonder what could have been IF I had better trainers. Oh well.

    I'm sure that cr england isn't all bad,sounds like you got a good deal going there.with big companies image is everything and reputation too.there are alot of the bigger companies getting a bad reputation out here.

    I am heading to Burns Harbor in a few weeks. I have already drove for them once. I was with them for a year. I had to take a year off for family reasons and now they say I have to do full school again...sigh.
    The first few months after done with the cat program were the rough ones. My Dm was kind enough to send me a Walmart dedicated account and not even tell me that I was getting a new Dm. All he said was " I got a run for ya, report to this Walmart DC." It worked out for the better though. I liked the account and hope to be able to get back on it ASAP.

    it was a hard decision but england pulled in a lot of company solo drivers that did not have 11 months experience and told them to team up get their own truck or.....well u know. it's hard economic times and our customers want their freight to arrive quicker,so they want a team to haul their freight. i know if it was my company i would not want to have my trucks sitting for 10 plus hours everyday it needs to keep moveing.

    Well that just really sucks. No wonder they are still constantly hiring in this economy. They are forcing strangers to team or saying lease to go solo. I am just going to have to deal with this BS since they are the only ones willing to bring me into orientation right now. Not a chance in hell would I lease from them. I guess I need to get in touch with a few people I know in the office there and see whats really going on.

    I forget the name of the office. Yet when I was in Salt Lake I saw they had a office where supposedly some one reviewed the personality traits of drivers to see whom would be compatible working with others in a team environment. So its not like a total shot in the dark as to whom is going to be riding in the trucks.

    I have a couple questions about CR England.

    1.Can the loan for school ($2995 at 18 %) be paid off early without penalty ? Or do you HAVE to pay it off with the pre determined amount every week ($55.00 for 18 weeks then $75.00 a week till ? ) ?

    2.Can you choose the Training location ?(I'm in Chicago , Burns Harbor would be closest)Or do they want you farthest away from your home ?

    3.When you do eventually get home time as a company driver , is there a England terminal in Chicago ? Or Burns Harbor the closest ?

    4.From day one of being at the facility when can you expect to see your first check ?

    5.Phase I training is an "average" $430.00 per week and Phase II training is the "average" pay $450 - $600 a week ? All I want is to make sure I will make enough (take home pay) during each training Phase to send $800.00 home a month.

    6.After 90 days of training and I become a company driver , what is the pay per mile ?

    7.After the 90 days of training and I become a company driver and decide the company is not right for me .I leave and still owe the money for the school , do I just keep making the same payments as before.Or is there a "PENALTY" for leaving the company ?

    Any terms of payment as agreed to at signing is what it will cost you.

    It is reasonable for you to get $800 a month to be sent home. The Comdata card they issue you gives you a choice of a percentage of hw much is to go to the Comdata card and how much to go to a private account. IE 50% to the card and the rest to your savings / joint account. Otherwise you can issue a Comcheck for the amount to home, its up to you.

    Where to train? Heck if your in Chicago there is no point for them to tell you to go elsewhere than Burns Harbor. For that matter I would drive my own vehicle to the hotel.

    Home time, well, here is the story. Unless the location where you live allows you to park the rig in your door yard (and is secure) and your co-driver is also in the same area, your chances of getting home are pretty good. Your being in Chicago is a plus. However. The company doesnt let people go home for a weekend like a normal job. Think about it. Normal jobs you get off work 5 pm friday? Back to work 8 am Monday? Heck that is 63 hours off. They will more than likely start calling you at your 30th hour wondering why you are not getting ready to go back to work.

    Chances are as to when you get paid is going to be after 2 weeks with the Phase I trainer.

    Pay? back 1.5 years it was .27 cpm Dont know about now, Carrottop might best answer that.

    Cr England does not want to buss anyone any further than they have to.
    u have the choice of were for go to orientation, but I would say burns harbor. and lovesthedrive is right I would drive to the hotel (home town lodge in Hammond,IN)

    pay after phase 2 is the same for a solo driver, but cre is not letting new drivers be solo at the moment. and they were letting the drivers that had 11 months exp. stay solo, but they are calling them now to team up lease a truck of if they qualify to be a phase 1 trainer and stay in a company truck.

    also u want to have direct deposit so bring a voided check with u. and sign up for that asap. because it takes 3 weeks of pay before it will be direct deposited.(before that they put it on ur comdata payroll card) and u don't start getting paid till u are cleared to go out with a trainer. yes u get paid while u are waiting for your trainer to pick u up. u also start paying that loan with your 1st or second paycheck, so don't be suprised. about the money thing if u need a cirtin amount then don't have taxes taken out while ur in training. then when u do your finnal upgrade then talk to payroll and start taking out taxes.

    I'm not sure... but it is a studant loan and you do get charged intrest. so u should be able to pay it off early and if u decide to leave before u pay it off make sure u keep paying it or pay it off.

    u live in chicago so home time should not be a problem. u can allways get something going threw the harbor.
    howeaver my dm told me that they only let a truck sit for 3 days. so unless u want to be swaping trucks offten....
