Truckers
From what I have heard/read,they are pushing solo co drivers to team and if not team then become a lease operator. As a new driver, you have no business trying to be a lease operator. Do not take this personally but you know next to nothing as to what it takes to be successful at this biz even at a company driver level. You more than likely would fail miserably at trying to run your own business right out of the gate.
I'm not trying to rain on your parade,I just would hate to see you put in a situation that you most likely would fail and maybe wind up leaving the industry before you get a decent taste of it.
Please, don't take my word for it, look at the posts here and other boards. The vast majority of posts are of the negative variety.
Do your homework Do your homework Do your homework Do your homework

Hope this helps and best of luck to you.

I start school with England on July 6th also, but at their Dallas, Texas facility. I haven't even gone yet and hit the first SNAFU. When I called Greyhound regarding my confirmation number that the recruiter gave me, they said it was for a ticket from Ft. Worth to Dallas. I live in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, not Ft. Worth, Texas.
I do have relatives in Ft. Worth, so I'm going to drive down to Dallas on Sunday and once I'm there try to figure out what to do with my minivan.
Is the school 3 weeks at the training facility, or 3 weeks total? I'm hoping I'll have at least one weekend where I can drive back to Ft. Smith and drop my minivan off and then find my way back to Dallas--maybe fly.
Good luck. I was scheduled to go to the Gary, Indiana school, but got rescheduled. I'm glad I'm going to Dallas.
A question: if one doesn't live in a state that has a company terminal or drop yard (Arkansas), is it more difficult to get home?
There is nothing really holding me here in Arkansas and wouldn't mind moving to Medina, Ohio, since it is 1 county away from my hometown.

For CRE, it's not where you live that keeps you from getting home. You can take your truck home as long as you can get it in and out. It's the willingness of your DM to get you there, but since you live in Ft. Smith, you'll at least be able to wave at your home quite often as you drive right by.
