Get your foot in the door!

Hey CRE88,
You said a mouthful! I'm in the same beginning stages (decision making, that is) you are and want to make all the right decisions. Actually, I won't be going to school until next summer (at a local jr college).
I've spent many hours during the last few weeks reading The Forum and have come to some basic conclusions: 1) As you said, "I have to get my foot in the door somewhere, 2) CRE has a lot of bad press and I have to believe that the majority of it is true, 3) I don't intend to get "hooked" long term with ANY company through tuition payback or lease-purchase, and finally, 4) the first year or so out there will likely be filled with frustations, disappointments, confusion, etc., but from what I've read from the veteran drivers, hanging in there pays off sooner or later (hopefully sooner for all of us).
If you worked for WalMart for any length of time you might find that working for CRE is a "walk in the park" by comparison. WalMart employees are some of the biggest crybabies I've ever heard. They, like all of us, should be thankful to have a job in this economy. You said you maintained a positive attitude while working there. Do the same thing wherever you go and you'll be fine. I have no experience in trucking but after 55 years of living on this planet, I've got some plain old common sense.
Good luck to you and no matter what, BE SAFE!

With all the bad stories mainly being about lease operators experiences i am pretty certain about being a company driver. I was originally very excited about this opportunity until i heard all the bad stories and then i started wandering if it was even smart to go to work for them but i have to to get my foot in the door for the trucking industry. I was hoping for alot more positive feedback on the company to offset the negative stories that i have been hearing. Anything would be appreciated. I was also wanting to know what the dot physical consists of? Please any feedback before i leave on next saturday would be greatly appreciated especially positive.
thanks

I just recently dropped out of their training course after a week. They were just completely awful. One day a teacher would tell us one rule, the next day a teacher would say no thats not true and make another thing up. so after listening to all there bull i dropped out. I called the school and told the I was unhappy with the course and they said no problem, you us 1000 dollars. Then she hung up on me. Do not deal with Cr England unless you like to get screwed.
