I love Crete! I couldn't have found a better company to go with in my opinion. Yeah, the opti-idle truck had me bleary eyed at first, but by the second night, I didn't hear either the alarm or the truck. I have worse probs sleeping when reefers park next to me, or someone with those darn air dryers that hiss like a rattlesnake.

I have always been a "log it like you drive it" driver anyway, so the strictness with regards to logs doesn't bother me. I got my hand smacked for trying to sneak some "split breaks" in, but I lived. I just don't do it anymore.

I have had a lot less trouble getting home with Crete than I did when I ran for the "Mighty Orange". I am usually there exactly when I want to be, unless an unforeseen circumstance (breakdown) changes that.

The fueling thing, I've never had a problem getting a change when I called. I was used to the shortfalls of a fueling program, and pretty much got used to deciding when my truck needed fuel myself. I think that fuel program is set up to judge fuel usage with a light load in a perfect world, and we all know this one ain't perfect. Long as I remember to call and get it approved, not a problem.

With the cpm I am making, and the miles I am getting, I can overlook a lot, especially when I hear drivers from other companies complaining about sitting a lot, and lack of miles. So far with Crete, I haven't had to overlook much.

I'm new here....and I appreciate all the posts I've read in several forums here! Looking to start a driving career, and sure looks like Crete is one of the best to get in with.
Hey, BettyAnn....I saw in another post that you're a recruiter for Crete. Can you get me some information and answer some questions for me?

    Thank you all!
    Jeff

Hi BettyAnn....thanks for the reply. I've got 27 more posts to go before I can send an email...LOL, so I'm going to have to be creative. If you can email me at my hot mail address I'd appreciate it...the name is the same as here. Thanks!

I did not read further to see the main topic was dropped and now is about drivers looking to work for Crete. But I must add Betty Ann is very correct in the first post on this thread. If the company does not make sure drivers are running legal, the company "MIGHT" not be there very much longer or her words to be great "no future". DOT is not nice to us when they do a DOT Audit! We have to deal with the why?, How?, When? & where questions. This is why we as companies must make sure drivers are running legal and it is a "TOUGH" job, and it is always nice when the driver works with us and not against us!

I thought trainers teach new drivers how to do logs properly

Trainers should be teaching the driver the correct way to do logs and the correct way the to be a trucker, but there is always bad apples every where you go. It is very unfair to the trainee to be treated this way, but I personally could see it happening, sad but true!

Ummm...Betty Ann....I don't think you've seen the safestat results. They're worse than JB Hunt or Swift at 96%...which means that any DOT station that sees that is recommended to inspect and probably will. I worked for a company that only had a 90% rating and we always got pulled over for inspection...although thankfully, I was always caught up before rolling through the scalehouse...if you go to idodac or saferweb you'll see what I'm talking about...

I've been recommended to work for Crete, and I've heard good and bad about them...worried that they'll be a bad fit for me...I'll admit I've been spoiled. I was working for an Owner Operator for the last two years and he pretty much let me do whatever I wanted as long as I made money for both of us. Truck was governed at 75, which is reasonable to me...and he let me take time off whenever I needed it. He fell through some bad times and the truck I was driving broke down...needs a new head...he couldn't afford it, so he had to sell it and close shop. So here I am...wading through the heap...hoping I can find someone as good or better...

You'd think it would be easy for someone like me with 4 years experience...but not really...still wading through the Schneiders and such....hehehe...
