Well day 2 in the bag. Just alot of talk and some videos and alot of paper signing. Hopefully they will have trucks for all three of us after finishing up tomorrow. Fixing to head to the greasy spoon across the street. Ate there last night and it was quite good, going to be even better with the 10.00 coupon we got today
Told them I would be ready to roll after finishing up class tomorrow. Perhaps should have waited until Saturday morning as I am sure it will take a while to get #### into the truck and pick up some things from the shop.
Supposedly they will be changing back to the single dispatcher system in a couple of months or so instead of the regional dispatch. That is good news in my opinion as it should give drivers a better working relationship with their main contact.

Good luck driver.
RuthlessPumpkin Thanks this. -
What is the projected yearly earnings for a first year company driver?
-
I think 55K is pretty doable.
Well I must be living right. Going to have to change the title of the thread as I got a blue international Only 173K on her so just really getting broke in. Going to have to download a user manual for the truck as someone swiped the one out of here and I have several questions on some things, particularly the APU operation. Can't get the radio to work properly either, no sound and no changes of stations.
Heading home with a load, should be there tomorrow morning sometime. Going to deliver it on Monday early with a fresh 70. Will give me a couple of days to get acquainted with the ins and outs of stuff.
I asked the maintenance folks about getting chains for the truck but they told me they didn't want them on the Internationals, I suppose because of weight. Do they just not send these trucks out west in the winter or can you pick them up at another terminal without any fuss. I don't mind throwing some iron if need be and I sure like running out west as well.RuthlessPumpkin Thanks this. -
Well got unloaded in a timely manner this morning but then it took me 45 minutes or so to crowbar the wood and nails out of the floor. Got a quick load offer to pick up just down the road in Cary, NC heading to Memphis for tomorrow around 12. Had planned to make it a little farther down the road tonight but for the second straight driving day I have gotten trapped behind traffic jams (leaving Wash. DC and then tonight around Cookeville, TN). Got 230 or so miles to go with plenty of time to get there so no problem. Hopefully get another load to continue heading me out west. So far, so good

I like the idea of a single dispatch system, on of the only negatives I have found in my research of Crete was the regional dispatchers. Please keep the info coming, considering making the move to Crete after 2 years with my current company

Can you elaborate on the physical? My bp is a little high but still good for a one year DOT. Would that disqualify me? Thanks and good luck, Crete sounds like a good outfit.
-
You shouldn't have any problems with the physical if you are good for a 1 year card. One of the guys in the class didn't pass because they would only give him a three month card because of high BP and Crete wouldn't take that. Eat a sensible breakfast and take your time and breath during the exercises. The worse one was toting a 75 lb box around the room twice but you could stop after one lap if you needed to for a short break.
In the dock at Keebler an hour early but no movement yet in the truck. Another Crete truck was here before me and is sitting in the next lot waiting for a load I suppose.
All in all I really like this truck but it certainly could use some improvements. It is impossible to see some of the gauges/mileage due to the steering wheel, it lacks a pressure gauge for estimating load weight and it doesn't have a temp gauge for outside temperature which while not important this time of year is very helpful when the weather gets cold. The perks of an APU alone totally outweigh the negatives so I won't complain too loudlythelastrebel, paoldschool, RuthlessPumpkin and 1 other person Thank this. -
Haha, no more showing up ahead of time at Keebler's. Got in the dock at 11 with no other trucks around and they began unloading around 1245. On a d/h load now heading to Minooka. Still got a good 6.5 hrs to reach but going to get a very early start tomorrow so hopefully be in good shape to pick up something else before noon.

Dropped in Minook around 12 as anticipated and got my first two load offer. A slightly longer load going to Humboldt, TN loading at Minook but not delivering until 1230am on Friday, no thanks. I took the short load from down the road in Gridley, IL heading back up to Grand Rapids. Sitting near the Michigan border tonight and hope to get that load off before noon tomorrow and get something to keep rolling along.
I have made a spread sheet similar to the one that Evertrucker used to display his driving record. I will post it later when I have more data so folks can have a second view of what they are likely to encounter with Crete mileage wise, etc.Last edited: Jul 20, 2011
