    Day 1: Orientation

Day 1 went down without a hitch. I got started this morning at 7:30AM at the Crete terminal. I took a urine drug test at the terminal. The results should be back within 48 hours. I will then be moved to hired status, and set up with a trainer. I then proceeded down the road to the clinic for a DOT physical and company pre-work screen. You can view the pre-work screen on YouTube: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XokP5EmlHz4 . I came back to the terminal afterwards and watched 3 training videos. They were about 25 minutes a piece and consisted of 2 hazmat videos, and a hours of service video. I had a short interview/introduction with the fleet manager. I also had plenty of paperwork to fill out throughout the day. Mainly benefits and company policy kinda stuff. They provided lunch while at the terminal. It consisted of a sandwich, chips, cookie, and coke. The also gave me a $10 restaurant gift card for supper. I have been in a company provided hotel room since last night. I arrived back at my room around 3:30PM. It has a king size bed, microwave, mini fridge, tv, safe, wifi, and work desk. It is in a great location next door to the local mall. I should be here tomorrow night and then leave out with a trainer the next day. It has been an enjoyable stay, except for tornado warnings last night! I will update you on tomorrows excitement as soon as possible. If you have any questions then please feel free to ask!

I don't really know. Everything is done kinda separately. I am in a private hotel room and everything I did today was by myself. They process each person individually.

    Day 2: Orientation

Day 2 was a breeze. I did a majority of the work on day 1. I will say that each persons experience may be different. They don't always do things in the same order. It is possible that your days 1 & 2 could be scheduled differently. I started my day this morning around 6:00AM in the lobby of the hotel. I met with the guy who administers the road test. We headed over to the terminal and filled out some paperwork. The road test consisted of coupling & uncoupling, and around 30 minutes of drive time. I returned to the terminal and waited around. I am waiting on the results of my drug test to come back. I will then be hired and set up with my trainer. While waiting, the company needed some rental cars taken back to the airport. I assisted with driving one down, which was about a 30 minute drive. I was compensated for this. After returning back to the terminal I was released for the day. It was around 1:00PM, so I decided to drive back home and visit my family. I live about 1 1/2 hours away. I am now back at the hotel room for the night. I will update you again with what tomorrow holds!

....I would also like to add that breakfast, lunch, and dinner was provided again today. Which I believe is the best part of the process! Breakfast included bananas, cereal bars, and water. Lunch included sandwich, chips, cookie, and coke. Dinner included a $10 restaurant gift card.

    Day 3: Orientation

I am back at the terminal for day 3. I was able to start my day a little later today, around 9:00AM. I was officially hired on today and given the contact info for my trainer. I got in touch with him this morning. He stated he would be here this afternoon to pick me up. The last three days have been fairly laid back and relaxed. Everyone is friendly and they knew me by name after my first day. I have been really satisfied with the experience so far. There may be some delay in my future posts due to being out on the road. I am sure I will be really busy, but I am excited to learn everything I can! I will take full advantage of the next 8 weeks. I promise to update everyone as soon as possible and reply to any questions. Please keep following along cause I promise I will be back on! Goodluck to everyone else!

    OTR Training

The trainer and I left out from the terminal around 4:00AM today. We had a couple of drop & hooks around the terminal before picking up a load headed to Pennsylvania. I had my first experiences with weigh stations, fueling, and truck washes.. Also, the drop & hooks this morning gave me experience with shippers/receivers and maneuvers. We have stopped in South Carolina for the night. Everything has went smooth for the first day. Just trying to learn all the company procedures and processes. I was excited to finally get out there and drive. All these CDL tests and road tests are stressful and don't allow you to just get out there and relax and drive. I enjoyed my first day and will update you again as soon as possible!

I'm also looking hard at Crete. They get a more favorable rating on Glassdoor.com than many other carriers and I keep reading good things here as well. Thanks for the info and look forward to your next update.
